Thee best bag. Period

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

We are big fans of the TNF Base Camp Duffel at our house. We have a large for myself, medium for my wife and a small for my son. They are sturdy and super easy to travel with since they have backpack straps. My wife does wish there were a few more pockets, but other than that, we have zero complaints.

I love this bag!

This bag is rugged and durable. Small enough to use as a carry-on but feels like it has a ton of space. It is amazing how much you can fit in the bag! My only complaint is that is does not have a waist strap. Hard to use this on a backpacking trip or where you will be walking a lot. Other than that I love it. Would not recommend as a backpacker, but I plan to use this bag for all other types of travel.

The North Face Basecamp duffel is a classic, and it can't get any better. I have the small, which is great because it still fits as a carry-on bag on planes.

The backpack functionality is great and the bag can get a bit heavy. It doesn't have carryon straps, but you can use the backpack straps for that purpose.

What more can you say about this bag

Basecamp duffles have become a staple at my house, they are bombproof, you seriously can't kill them. my only gripe is I love the look of the Black duffel but my stuff just disappears inside it so I end up digging around to find my favorite socks and just making a mess

    Perfect Basic Duffel

I needed a weather-proof no frills duffel to haul ski/running/ocr gear. I also wanted something that looked good enough to use for normal non-sporting weekend travel. The medium base camp duffel in tnf black has worked out very well in both regards. I love the backpack straps – they are much more comfortable and make carrying a loaded duffel much easier than a typical single shoulder strap. I was debating between the base camp duffel and the patagonia black hole duffel. Two features on the base camp won me over. First, the separate pocket on one end of the duffel is perfect for keeping muddy shoes or wet clothes away from the rest of your gear. Second, the cinch straps on the sides of the duffel are great for reducing the size when it is not fully loaded. Probably can’t go wrong with either, but my Gearhead, Karsyn, was spot on in pointing out these features. Lastly, I love the fact the TNF logo on the black model is a muted silver color rather than bright white.

Great review Brandon, thank you so much!

      Great Bag!

I finally got around to getting one of these in size large. I purchased it for traveling, and so far it has accompanied me on several trips. Plenty of room and really bombproof. The zipper seems super strong, and I expect to get many years of use out of it. I also like that it collapses down for easy storage. Best in class.

I needed a 90L bag for trekking Kilimanjaro. I did a lot of research on bags and couldn't be happier with this bag. It fit all of my clothes (winter and summer wear for a week) in addition to a very large sleeping bag. It is easily carried as a backpack which is fantastic, and the space is perfect for a decent trip.

Thanks for the great review Katharine!

          Nice bag.

Organized my snow gears in one of this bag. Fit a pair of boot. It's a good investment for this type of bag. Ready for a day or two trips on the road.

            Looks great after abuse

Not sure at first how much I would use the duffel, but I LOVE it. I bought the XXL bag and can fit all my smaller bags inside for big trips. I have stuffed my sleeping bag, tent, climbing gear, clothes for 2, and more all in then strapped it to the top of the car. Best purchase ever

one bag to rule them all.

Marry Poppins has nothing on this bag. In fact, pretty sure they patterned it after hers. The storage space is incredible for all the sizes. Opening is accessible. and fabric strong and durable.

This duffel has been amazing for everything from camping trips to airline flights. I purchased the small and find that it can fit under the seat on an airplane if needed. I most often wear it as a backpack when traveling but it is also easy to carry as a duffel.

              Perfect size!

I love these North Face duffels. I have a few of them in different sizing. Mostly the two largest sizes which I have used for years with traveling. I use one for all my gear and another for everyday clothing or essentials. I recently picked up the medium size and it is the perfect go to size for every day use. The backpack straps and waterproofing make it super easy to take everywhere. Love it!!!

The additional strap can be used to store them, folded in half. Two mediums will pack inside the 22 L Rolling Thunder Carry On.
