What else can I say, but she loves it.

love the jacket but.

Love this jacket for the warmth and length for cold days. However, the snap button that holds the hood to the jacket broke off after just a month of wear. It was too late to return it to BackCountry so now I am stuck having to deal with North Face to get them to replace it. I know North Face has a life time warranty or something like that on their clothing but I have been so busy it is now May and I still haven't contacted North Face.

Perfect jacket for the north east!

Let me start by saying that customer service is excellent! I even received a courtesy call! The package arrived in good condition they even included a wine gift card, the jacket is well made plus the fact that it's waterproof unlike other more expensive brands out there that's what a call good value for the money. My daughter loves it! Backcountry is my new store from now on thank you!

Nice quality

Fits me perfectly, keeps me warm and is cute. I am fairly thin so it does run small because even the small was just barely a perfect fit! I like how it has a cinched waste.

I got this with my daughter's north face Elisa down from Backcountry. This coat is really warm. I love it! I usually wear size 0 or 2 and small size fits perfectly.

A must have for the winter!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I live in NJ and it gets as low as 20 F here. This is the best coat in this price range for using in a city, for example if you occasionally walk and take public transportation or use your car otherwise. I don't think this would be good for hiking as I do not think it really breathes. It definitely keeps you warm. I didn't even need to wear layers to keep myself warm. But it might make you sweaty if you are active. I sometimes walk for 40-50 minutes with this in the city sideways and sometimes I feel too hot in it. But I love this, you can just wear a dress or a thin layer and it will still keep you warm. Definitely wind-breaking and warm and soft. It might be bulky to carry around so keep that in mind. I wear XS in tops and bottoms but I bought S in this coat and it fits perfectly. I really think that this was the best winter coat to buy for this price as I searched for this for a month. I can say that I made the right decision!

    Beautiful Coat, Weird Fit

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Medium

I'm usually in between a small and medium, but decided to size up for layering or thick sweaters. Similar to other reviews, there was nothing else going to fit in that coat! I'm relatively flat chested (34B for reference) and it still barely zipped and the arms were too short, yet the waist was baggy and undefined.
I got the green color which was dark and true to the photos. Very pretty coat and seemed warm in the house. Sadly returning this one.

    Quality Decline

This is my 3rd TNF Arctic parka. My first (and warmest) model was purchased in 2009, my second in 2014. I purchased the latest model last week after someone stole my second TNF from the coat rack on NYE 2017. This latest version?! What a disappointment. The zipper is utter garbage, the fur collar looks cheap and sparse and the chest pockets are gone. Seriously, even the hanging loop has gone down in quality. Forget about warmth too. The arms don't have enough fill and the wind whips right through the coat. You might get some use out of this on a Carribean cruise but don't plan on much else.

    Nice parka

This is a nice parka and it fits well. But my mum, who has a broader shoulder says it does not fit her well and runs a little small. I recommend those who have broad shoulders to size up.

I think North Face has gone downhill in the last few years, and this coat is evidence of that. Plastic zipper. Boxy, Unflattering fit for a woman. No unique details. Just mega plain. I wanted to like this coat because of the price but when the Sorel Joan of Arctic coat showed up, there is absolutely no comparison. Granted, the price tag on that coat is much higher but the quality is there and the fit is flattering and the attention to detail is evident. I wish North Face would put some better design into their merchandise...everything is starting to look eerily similar to Patagonia, Land's End, Eddie Bauer, and all those other blasé brands that probably share the same foreign factories. Such a bummer to see the brand in decline.

Thanks for contributing to our community, Jen.

Too many flaws for the money

I ordered this jacket for a trip to Iceland, but returned it almost immediately. I liked the faux fur on the hood, but once you remove it, the hood is too short to cover your face. Completely pointless if there's a downpour and you don't want the fur to get wet. The jacket also zips too tight to your chin when it's zipped all the way up. When it's cold I usually tuck my chin behind that part of the collar, but there isn't enough room. It seems like a warm coat, but those flaws are too important for me to waste this much money.

I bought this as a late Christmas/ early birthday present for my mom who lives in Western Michigan. She lives a couple blocks from Lake Michigan and gets the wonderful lake wind effect. She needed a jacket that could stand up to that kind of weather. So far she absolutely loves it. It keeps her warm and blocks the wind very well.

    Versatile and Functional

I bought this jacket for a trip to NYC in December, and it kept me very warm while walking around outside, even with minimal layers underneath. I now wear it all the time back home in LA, just as a rain coat when the temperatures are in the 50s and it's perfect for that too! I have wide hips, and there is just enough room for them in the size small, which fit me everywhere else. My only complaints are that the hood is not very deep, so if you have your hair up, it's difficult to put the hood over it, and the zipper is a huge pain about 75% of the time. You have to align it perfectly to get it to work. But overall, I'm very happy and would buy it again!

The North Face Arctic Down Parka - Women's

I am 5-3 -115/average bust. I initially purchased the XS but found it too snug so exchanged it for the Small size. I love this coat-super warm!!! The coat does run snug even in the small but it is not too bulky and overwhelming like so many other heavyweight coats. When you are looking for this amount of warmth, you can not expects a sleek design. I like that there is a banded waist to give a little shape. I usually buy petite for the length/arms. This inside cuffs in the sleeves add to the warmth, and help keep the arm length in check. No need to tuck in or cuff. Removed the fur trim-not for me. Saw that other review mention crinkly sound- not an issue with mine. I love that this coat does NOT have those big square front pockets many others do-adds to overall bulkiness. The pockets are plenty deep enough. Very happy!!!

XS is perfect for petite women

As I am 5 ft 0 in and weigh 110lb, it is very difficult to find coats that fit me appropriately. This coat fits PERFECTLY; nice and snug. I played in the snow in Lake Tahoe and I was completely warm and dry! Love this coat.

    Good Quality

Although this jacket seemed to be made very well, it appeared very boxy when I put it on and the faux fur hood did not seem to sit right. I ordered a medium and think that a small may have been a better option for a more form fitting style, but am concerned that a smaller size might not fit my shoulders as well. It is super warm and although I did not wear it outside, I imagine it would be great for those extra chilly days.

    Runs very small

Appears to be well made but way small
