Find your happy place.
When dreary winter months gives way to the idyllic sunshine and lush greenery of spring and summer, slip into the form-fitting support and plush padding of the Terry Bicycles Women's Soleil Short before pedaling down the road. Aptly named for its upbeat disposition, the Soleil Short features vibrant side panels that add pep to each pedal stroke. Besides offering a refreshing aesthetic that elevates it above standard cycling shorts, the Soleil is a fantastic value thanks to its superb mixture of support and plush padding.
It employs a supportive, muscle-stabilizing blend of nylon and spandex, which conforms to your body without sacrificing critical pedaling movements. Like all of Terry Bicycle's Shorts, the Soleil forgoes elastic leg bands, which are prone to causing the dreaded "sausage effect" from pinching your legs. Instead, it uses two-inch, elastic-free bands for a secure fit without irritation or pinching.
One of its stand-out features includes the Italian-made Flex Air chamois. This chamois is comprised of four-way stretch panels that lovingly conform to your body without creating irritation. Perforated foam not only absorbs vibration transmitted through your stiff road frame, but it's also highly breathable, so you're not soaking in sweat during warmer rides.

- Q & A
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
- Fit: Runs large
- Size Bought: XXL
I tried on 5 Terry shorts for comparison.
Somehow these were too big. That has NEVER happened with anything spandex related on me before, but I digress...
The cut on this was looser than the rest, and so much so that I had quite a gap in the back of the waist. With a long jersey it may have been fine, but they were loose enough that I would try a size down.
Aside from that, they seem to be a great short, with very thoughtful features to make them more comfortable such as the wide flat (not bulky) waist, the elastic free leg bands, and the fabric, cut, and seams just all felt really smooth over all. And as a nice touch, personally, I really appreciate that small pocket in the back.
Since these were running large, I ultimately went with the Peleton Hi Vis and the Breakaway short, but the next time I feel like adding to my cycling shorts collection I would for sure try these again and be sure to try the next size down for comparison.
