Hop on the cham human-powered tram.

Between the steep vert and the slightly harrowing, mostly technical descents, the art of alpine touring requires a jacket like the Strafe Outerwear Men's Cham 2 Jacket to offer steadfast and lightweight protection. Starting with its articulated fit and minimalist silhouette, the Cham 2 touts a movement-friendly design, making it ideal for hiking and skinning alike.

Additionally, the Cham is constructed with Polartec's Neoshell material, which is not only incredibly waterproof and a hint stretchy, but also assures serious breathability, meaning that your baselayers aren't saturated in sweat by the time you arrive at the summit. To further a comfortable microclimate for your upper half, the jacket features zippered underarm ventilation for on-the-go temperature regulation, so you don't have to remove the jacket in favor of dumping excess body heat. The powder skirt is fully removable for customized protection, and not to mention, the hood is helmet-compatible and totally adjustable to suit your needs.

Customer Service

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

I purchased this jacket wore it about 5 times then washed it according to the Mfgers Instructions. The weld on the bottom seam fell apart. I returned it to Strafe for a warranty. UPS delivered on 3/28. I have contacted Strafe twice by Email and no response. If you call al you get is a recorded message. So far zero stars for customer service and the jacket performance.

The Dream for high output activites

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

This is without a question the highest performing jacket I have owned. It really is a dream come true for those high output activities that may require you to be wearing your jacket despite being slightly warm (due to wind/inbounds skinning w/o pack, etc.). This jacket breathes extremely well and have had days with upwards of 12k of inbounds skinning (lack of snow in the backcountry) and have only good things to say. The front zip pockets allow you to fold skins and carry them easily down in your jacket, inside the jacket there is a soft phone sleeve with headphone hole (top left chest area) and a stretch fabric goggle holder in the lower right waist area to hold goggles on the way up or when wearing your sunnies at apres.

The jacket is super light and has a slightly longer fit, which is great if you are wearing a pack at all. This avoids the whole jacket bunch up and the dreadful surprise of cold wind running across your back. I wear an Icebreaker 150 as a baselayer, a Strafe Basecamp Hoodie as a midlayer (similar to a Patagonia Capilene Thermal Weight Zip-Neck Hooded Top) and then the Cham 2. I am 5'9''' 145lbs and wear a size medium, it slightly on the bigger side, but due to not being a bulky fit, I am okay with that. 95% of the time I am touring in the backcountry, with inbounds touring every once in a while to keep that uphill fitness going. Like I said, couldn't be happier and I have had many many jackets.

I’ve been using my Cham jacket for the past 3 seasons. It’s durable, lightweight and breathable- the best jacket I’ve ever purchased for ski touring and high alpine adventures. The fit of the jacket is perfect. I love the additional length and look forward to wearing this jacket for many years.
