Featuring a strong and toasty blend of polyester and wool, the Stoic Merino Blend Baselayer Bottom keeps you warm and comfortable through every winter adventure. Wool provides such benefits as temperature management and odor resistance, while polyester provides strength and additional moisture-wicking performance. The next-to-skin fit makes it easy to layer beneath your pants whether you're riding the resort or snowshoeing through the forest.

  • Baselayer tights add warmth to your winter pursuits
  • Wool-poly blend is warm, wicking, and odor-resistant
  • Slim fit offers convenient layering options
  • Australian-made fabric is sourced from non-mulesed sheep

Not too stretchy

The fabric was not too stretch, and you can almost look to the other side at backlighting, and the waist is not fitting. Was small sizing.

    no stretch run small

    Wish could return

    Great price, weird fit

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: S

I was on the fence about trying merino again as I am a bit sensitive. The fit made the decision for me. I guess I missed all the reviews on this one. Very odd fit. I would expect a bit more stretch from a base layer. Don't really want to keep them, but not sure it is worth the cost to ship back for a return.
I am on the thinner side. Not super curvy, but not exactly a stick either. The rise is too long leading the crotch to hang down. I think my thighs would get chaffed if I did wear it. The ankles are narrow. I had a hard time getting my feet through the opening. A little snug on the calves. I give it a meh.

Cut is not for a typical female shape

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: S and M

Gave this brand a second chance in a a size larger after wearing the annoyingly awful fit small size to only discover the same poor fit. Incredibly tight fit when pulling over the feet and so tight around the calves that it pulls them down, leaving a large gap for about 2-3in of the upper inseam. Having not a single decent review over 3-stars, I am curious why you carry continue to carry them at Backcountry?

    Poor sizing and construction

    • Size Bought: Medium

Way small sizing, and no stretch or give at all in these leggings. Could barely get them on. Everything I own is size medium or small, these didn't fit good at all. Claustrophobic feel to them. Wool blend is cheap quality, doesn't compare at all to other wool leggings.

    Fit VERY small

I am normally a size medium in most things. I got a medium in these, and the crotch made it to about the higher part of my thighs. I could not pull them up any more. The fabric is not stretchy at all. I feel like I would like them if I got a larger size.

    Too small

    • Size Bought: Medium

Ordered a medium and found them to be waaay to small on me. 5’4” 140lbs with athletic build but could not get past the tightness in my calves and thighs.

Listen to the reviews: Too Small

If you are any type of athletic individual, then these are not the pants for you. While I could put a size medium on, the fit was wrong. Too tight in the thighs which results in extra fabric below the butt (I think there is a name for it, but I don’t know).

I am 5’1”, 130-135#. I usually wear a small, so I followed the suggestions to size up, but that made the torso and the legs too long.

    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Xs

Pretty convinced these are made for a damn baby. I’m 5’1 and 100lb (basically a baby??) and could not even get these over my thighs in a size xs. They are super thin and are not worth it.

Where these made for a child?

These are so dang small! According to the size chart, I am right in between a medium and small in Stoic sizing, and I have another pair of *medium* Stoic leggings that are now fairly baggy/lose on me, so I decided to go with the small, however, they were so small that I literally could not pull them up over my knee. I also have pretty skinny legs, and they were so skin tight, it felt like I was going to tear them if I tried to force them on any further. Such a bummer they did not fit, because my other Stoic leggings were great aside from being a little too big in the end.
I returned the product for a refund.

    Reportedly fit well

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Got these as a gift, they are adequate

    Adequate for the job

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Large

Read the reviews and I sized up. I had to get a Large and I am size 8-10. The waist was baggy but the legs were tight. They fit ok and they do the job but the legs were tighter then I expected. I kept these since they were such a good price. They are mid to light weight insulation.

    had to return

    • Fit: Runs small

Strange cut- got my normal size which is medium (occasionally I will go between small and medium) and they didn't come up all the way- it was like they were low-cut. Thin material. Had to return. I've liked some previous bottoms I've had from Stoic, but not this one.

    They are okay

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: Runs small

I got these for my wife, she says they are super warm, which is what you need in a skiing base layer, but they aren't super stretchy so that makes the fit and comfort a bit challenging, especially when trying to fit them over ski socks.

    It does the job

    • Fit: True to size

Nice primary bottom layer, doesn't itch and works great under ski pants.

    Very odd cut/sizing

I'm a thin, tall-ish woman that usually wears size small in base layers. Given the reviews, I ordered a medium. However, I couldn't even pull them all the way on - given the non-stretchy fabric, they got caught at my thighs so the stride hung about 6 inches lower than my body. Totally odd. I suggest Icebreaker for good merino baselayers that have a bit of stretch.

Seem to run small :( I’m going to return

      Garment Sizing:
Stoic gear refers to the size of the person for measurements, so take your own measurements to determine what size you should buy.
      Sizing Notes:
The Women's cotton tees run small especially for larger busts. We suggest ordering a size up.
      How to Measure:
For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
Measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your chest.
Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.
Measure around the fullest part of your body at the top of your legs.
Using pants that fit well, measure the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.
Measure from the center of your back to your wrist with arms held out.
