2 months in and still working well

I have been using these in the light snow and mud on our farm.. When it drops down to 20ish degrees, these boots are warm even when running the tractor and not walking around. They fit true to sized for me as I use thick socks to add warmth. I would have preferred fast laces instead of eyelets so it just take a few more seconds to tighten the boots. Lets see how they last for next season.. So far so good.

Great boots. This is the second pair that I've bought. Excellent for everyday winter wear. Not necessarily built for extreme sports. I've had absolutely no problems with these boots!!! I would recommend them.

How are you dealing with the sweat issue? Also would you recommend for light mountain hiking? I live at 10k ft.

Does these boots have a size 12 or you out?

Hardcore Winter Boot

As someone who's worked in the sierras for years, I would have to recommend these boots. I bought these five years ago specially to do tower work in the winter conditions of the high sierra. The leather upper and heavy duty rubber lower stand up to daily abuse in the winter months. I've endured working long hours day and night in extreme conditions and they've done their job. But be aware that they are extremely warm and your feet WILL start to sweat immediately in warm temps like your car or indoors and can cause problems once re-introduced to cold temps. They also have convenient attachments for gaiters and snowshoes which only add to the performance of this boot. The only downfall I've experienced, the ankle strap does not provide any extra support. It does however aid in the quick entry and removal of the boot. Their fit is about a 1/2 size larger like any good winter boot should. So I would have to say they fit true to size if you're wearing a pair of winter socks underneath.

    2nd pair in 15 years

I love these boots. Strong, warm, and comfortable. Relatively easy to walk in. I bought my first pair almost 15 years ago, they've since started to crack and I've relegated them to my car's trunk as a backup. Bought this second pair a bit over a year ago, no complaints and I expect them to last just as long as the first.

How do these hold up with snowshoes. I just had a pair of TNF boots of similar design give up the ghost while snowshoeing. The rubber bootie separated from the leather upper in a most spectacular way...

    poor quality

The boot was uncomfortable to begin with. After a few years, using only a few times a year, despite caring for the boot and storing in a cool closet (not near heat or cold) the rubber (plastic?) foot portion of one boot cracked and basically disintigrated.

      Really warm

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These are probably the warmest boots I have ever had. They fit true to size (I bought a mens 7 so they are wider for more socks if needed) They are sturdy. The only thing I would change would be the laces at the top, should have hooks to pull tighter instead of loops. After wearing them a few times the leather starts to loosen up and they are comfortable and warm.

      Great warm boot

Gave this as a gift and the recipient absolutely loves them. Keeps his feet warm playing around the neighborhood or out in the mountains snowmobiling. Add some nice wool socks and it doesn't get much better.

These boots were quite warm and waterproof...until the seam where the rubber is sewn to the leather above the toe split all the way across. I've only had these boots for just over a year and this happened. Sorel's 1 year warranty for the price isn't worth it at all unless you only need to have a pair of boots for a year then have them be ruined due to a defect. Can't even repair it. Seriously disappointed.

Sorel Conquest Boot Front toe box torn/cracked in half. I've had these boots for a few years now and I take good care of them.... I even keep them in the original box to keep dirt away. Only a one year warranty for Sorel Boots. For the Money it's not worth it. The upper and Soles are in perfect condition. However, where the leather and rubber meet is where the toe fell/cracked from end to end.

      Warm, Superior, Light Traction

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
      • Fit: Runs large

Gave this is as a gift and here is the feedback: "Do you need a warm snow boot that delivers awesome traction? Well you are looking at the right one. Thinsulate inner keeps your feet warm in the coldest harsh conditions. They give you confidence to truck through any wintery mix when walking about. They run on the larger size so I would get the next size down.

I love the boots! I'm so glad I decided to purchase them. Pair them with some wool socks and you're read to take on the roughest of winters! The best thing is, when you wear them with wool socks, your feet aren't going to be sweating when you move from the snowy outdoors into a 70 degree building. The only reason why I didn't give them 4 stars is because there tends to be some slipping as you wear them, The heel lock helps out with that, but it's still not 100% comfortable. But they will be great for snowshoeing and off-roading in my jeep. Wearing these boots had me secretly wishing I was a logger.

I bought these boots mainly for casual wear around town, but I tried them snowshoeing and have used them now on multiple snowshoe treks and on trips as big as 17 miles in a day. I have never really had any discomfort, aside from the typical that you'd assume on a 17 mile day in snowshoes. The insulation on these boots are amazing. I have never doubled up on socks and have started hikes in them with a real feel temperature as low as -10 at the trail head and never had issues of being cold. The rubber on these are great for casual wear, as well as on the trails when the snowshoes are off. The heel and toes are a hard rubber so if you have snowshoes, crampons, or micro spikes on, your feet aren't getting squeezed. I bought a size 11 and typically wear 11 in most shoe/ boot brands, so I would say they are pretty true to size.

I would highly recommend these boots for any cold weather walks around town or adventures into the woods!

      Great boots so far!

Got these on a great deal from BC.com (you guys rock, as usual!!) and they arrived just before our huge nor'easter so I got a few good snow days in them.
Fit: I'm an honest 10.0 in every pair of shoes I've ever owned & these fit perfect for me in a 10.0 - note though that I prefer an over insulated boot & wear only lightweight gym socks & let the boot do the keep warm work. If I was to wear a pair of my heavier SmartWools they would probably be a bit snug & I would order a 10.5.
They keep my feet warm all day outdoors (commercial construction superintendent) on road, concrete, steel and in & out of office trailer surfaces. Completely waterproof & no moisture buildup inside, socks always dry when I take them off. A great replacement for the TNF Baltoro 400 that I previously owned, performance wise about the same boot in my opinion.
I will agree with a couple of the other reviews that the top 3 eyelets should be hooks & that is why only 4 stars. Lacing tightly is a bit of a chore & I will be taking them to a cobbler to have the eyelets changed out for hooks - for the $ and from such a top end name I cannot understand why Sorel missed this but oh well, an easy fix.
Bottom line - if TNF Baltoro 400's were still available I would have bought them again but these seem like a great alternative. FWIW my other choice was the Keen Summit County III's but I grabbed these because of the sale price & availability (Keen's out of stock everywhere when I needed to order.)
      2 Thumbs up here!

      Solid Boot

I have a pair of these I use for snowmobiling and other winter activities. They have held up well over the last 4 years, (snowmobiles tend to be brutal on boots). These boots are pretty heavy for how small they are, but I guess that's a good thing. I convinced my dad to give them a shot and he likes them. If you're looking for a solid do it all winter boot this is a goo choice.

So these boots look great. I think they would be warm and the soles look awesome for traction. However the top lace eyelets do not allow you tighten the boots and hook grommets would be better. I imagine they would

Great boot, keeps my feet warm even through sub-zero days on Utah's high altitude reservoirs. I haven't noticed any appreciable difference made by the achilles strap, though, and the gaiter tends to ride the sock down, but all in all I'd say worth the investment for those coldest of days.

      Nice Boot - Runs Small

I gave this to my dad since he was in need of some great boots with top notch insulation. He is a size 11.5 and has been for 30 years. I gave him 11.5's and he said they were closer to an 11 hard to put his foot in the boot.

He was wearing normal socks, not thick wool socks when trying on the footwear.

He said he would have loved to have kept them if they fit properly.

      Great all-purpose cold weather boot

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I'm on my 2nd pair of Conquests now, the first lasted me 8 years and I only replaced them when my heel wore a small hole in the insulation. They're still warm, I wore them in -40 wind chill getting diesels started at my job as a mechanic at an airport and had no problem with cold leaking in through the bare spot. But, I also had a nice warm shop to go into if they did let my feet get cold. I just don't trust them to keep me warm when out on the trails.

I worked as a skilift mechanic the first year I got them, and they were very comfortable for my long shifts on the mountain. I've hiked, shoveled, snowshoed, and worn them almost every day in the winter, and liked them enough to buy a second pair. To all the people who mentioned the difficulty of tightening the laces, it will get easier! They're not the kind of boot you can just tug on the laces and go, you really have to loosen them all up and tighten each course separately. Once the leather softens up a bit they won't untie on you. I took my new pair to a cobbler soon after buying them, and had hooks installed in place of the upper 3 barrel-style eyelets. I think it ran about $50, yeah, it's something that should have been done at the factory but if these last me 8 years it comes out to $6/year. Anyway, I get the bottom 5 D-rings the way I want them, tie a nice tight friction knot to lock the ankle in place, then lace the hooks to keep the shaft from sliding on my shins.

This winter I'm getting myself a more technical pair of boots for the majority of my snowshoeing because the Conquests don't really have the best support, but these will still see plenty of use. I think they're by far the best boot for the money.
