Sorel Ankeny Boot - Men's
SorelAnkeny Boot - Men's

A can't-go-wrong classic from Sorel.

Keep your dogs dry in the sloppiest of slushy winter snowstorms and toasty on frigid February days in the Sorel Men's Ankeny Boot. The Ankeny was designed with functional utility in mind, making it a versatile boot for driveway shoveling, sledding with the kids, driving to the mountain on powder days, and running to the store for milk in whiteout blizzards. The waterproof full-grain leather upper features fully taped seams and textile mesh lining, while a rubber midsole and removable molded EVA footbed gives your foot plenty of heel and arch support. A waterproof vulcanized rubber shell outsole with herringbone tread pattern keeps you dry from the bottom up and gives you plenty of traction in wet and icy conditions.

Nice Winter Boots

I bought these for my boyfriend, here is what he had to say: "These are my first pair of Sorels, I must say they surprised me. I wore them in Michigan in negative temps and my feet were plenty warm and most importantly, dry. They fit pretty true to size, I typically wear a size 12 all across the board and the 12's fit spot on. Even with a thicker sock, these still fit spot on. The soles are pretty grippy on ice, slush and even snow. I would recommend spraying a leather waterproofing spray on the leather part of the boot to ensure the leather lasting a little longer in terms of look. Though that is not typically recommended, that is a little trick I learned from Karissa and after a months wear, they actually still look brand new!"

    Wish the soles didn't split

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

Had them for a month. Shoveled snow, took a 4 mile hike on Willis Gulch with micro spikes slipped over them. I took the dog for a walk last night and noticed both soles splitting on the toe, bummer. I'd buy them again but not really satisfied with the durability of this particular pair.

    Great Boots

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These boots do a great job keeping your feet warm and dry. I usually wear a 9.5 and purchased a size 9. The fit is perfect.

Not suitable for those with ankles

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 11

I tried these on at home when they arrived. The fit and styling seemed perfect. Unfortunately, in my first outing, I discovered that the construction of the boot is deeply flawed. The seam where the leather upped connects to the rubber section creates an edge right at ankle level in the boot's interior. As you walk, the seam rubs away at your ankle. Though your feet may be dry, your ankles will be screaming. Stay away from these boots if you A: like your ankles or B: will be using these boots for walking.

    Sorel Ankeny Boot - Men's

    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: 13

Great boot for the value. My only comment is that the size runs small. I'm a size 12 but after reading other reviews decided on a size 13. Turns out the size 13 just fit right!

    great buy. very comfortable

    very good boot

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 8.5

Great grip in almost any situation. There was some slight irritation on the seam between the lower and upper sections on my first hike but I was wearing relatively thin socks; I wore thicker socks the next time and there was no irritation. When the snow was deeper than the top of the boot the snow got in easier than I'd like it to, so I'd recommend some gaiters for the deeper stuff (or taller boots). I'm an 8.5 or 9 in most shoes and boots, and 8.5 fit well even when wearing thick wool socks.

    Classy and Burly

The Sorel Ankeny boots are the perfect fit between function and fashion. All rubber water proof lowers give way to a sleek leather upper with a super comfortable fit. The boots are insulated enough for colder days with good socks but not as crazy as a Sorel Caribou or some of the heavier baffin boots. I wear these mostly around town on the sloppy snow days or to the ski resort for the apres ski footwear. Dinner date and blizzard ready, you cant go wrong with these boots.

it feels good to wear a waterproof shoe when most of my days are spent in the snow

    Great boot

These boots are awesome for any of your cold weather needs. They are warm and comfortable and definitely keep your feet dry!

      Does the job

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These boots are great. They are a very stylish shoe that really do well in the snow. It is by no means meant as a boot for hiking in the backcountry, but is perfect for people commuting in the snow. I wear these to school on snow or wet days and they are perfect for that!

      Waterproof

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: Runs large

Got these boots to wear whenever it was snowy, but they quickly turned into my everyday boot. They are extremely comfortable and insanely waterproof. Took these out to the Salt Flats in early December and ended up walking in a lot deeper water then we thought. Water was at least 4 inches deep and the boots didn't leak at all. I was really impressed. I had to size down in these so be careful with that. Overall very happy with this purchase!

Got these boots to have something waterproof when in snow and rain. Love the way they look and they are super warm! They have a pretty good grip on the soles. They are actually warmer than I expected as well a little too warm wearing them around when indoors. But im very satisfied how they have held up so far.

      Good looking boot

A good workman boot that looks good too. I've worn them a couple of times and tight around the ankles - they will take some wearing in. Once done, confident they will be a great boot though. True to size.

        Boyfriend loves them

I had a pair of Caribou boots that I used in Colorado for 4 years, they were great and I gave them to my Dad. He still has them and uses then today. Unfortunately my confidence in the brand has been undermined by my experience with the Ankeny boots I purchased in December. They seemed to have little if any insulation so I wasn't expecting a warm boot for extreme weather conditions. The main reason I bought the boots was because of the waterproofness. Since I commute on my bike year round in all kinds of weather I was hoping at the very least I would have a go-to boot for bad weather. On the first slushy ride of the year I wore the boots and the inside got very damp. What was most surprising about this was there was little rain beyond a light drizzle. Since they were new and this did not make sense I chalked the experience up to errant foot perspiration, even though my feet felt cool. I soon discovered that it was in fact the boots. There seems to be a critical design flaw in the boots. I was so desperate to halt the intrusion of water I tried a spray on waterproofer. This did not seem to work either. This started to really confound me. How were the boots permeable. After retreating the boots and still having wet feet I was dumbfounded. It wasn't until I started to really examine the boots centimeter by centimeter that I discovered both of the soles had small sections where they had separated from the rubber galvanized uppers. I considered returning them but this would have left me bootless during the coldest point of the entire winter (even if they were not waterproof). Unfortunately they are not warm either, even with a merino wool liner and wool boot sock my feet froze below 30 degrees. These boots are the WORST I have ever had. I bought a pair of "Timberlook" boots from the dollar store for $20 last winter and they lasted me the whole winter and gave out in spring. But they actually looked pretty good, they kept my feet warm and were actually waterproof...best $20 I ever spent. Too bad they didn't have them this year, I would have warm and dry feet, just maybe not as nice looking...but I would sure take it!

        Walk on by!

Paul, why didn't you return them? They have a 1 year warranty. I tried these on today and liked them, but decided to research before I buy. Thanks for the warning. Go get yourself a refund or at least a new pair on the house.
