Why We Like The Prospect Jr MIPS Helmet

The Kids' Prospect Jr. MIPS Helmet boasts Smith's most advanced features found in a ski helmet. It has a MIPS (Multi Direction Impact Protection System) inner lining that rotates slightly upon impact to absorb side-angled crashes commonly occurred from falling on skis and snowboards. Smith's Koroyd foam has a honeycomb structure that enhances ventilation and lightness without compromising overall safety. Inside, a dial-adjustable lining hugs the furry lining for a snug fit and soft warmth. Fourteen ventilation holes let out any unwanted warmth, and the adjustable switch closes all the vents in winter's coldest.

Great helmet - but you're bound to lose goggles

This is a great helmet for fit and protection. It is warm, fits well on my 5 year old, grows with the child, fantastic. My family is all smith for all sports, but I really wouldn't buy this again. It has one major flaw. The goggle clip on the back is useless. We have lost two pairs of goggles, as it doesn't keep the goggles secure and they slip out the bottom. This is especially the case with children, who are just getting used to putting goggles on their helmet and often put them too far up or too far back and they slip off. If that's the case, the clip won't retain them.

Well worth it

We purchased an identical helmet for our daughter two years ago (now 6) and were so pleased that we got this for our son. It's a great price considering the flexibility in sizing and the safety tech, but she finds it comfortable and warm. We paired it with Grom goggles and it's a good fit with no gaper gap.

Great product

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Excellent head protection. Variable sizing means more than one or two seasons of use while growing. And the child LIKES the helmet - so they wear it without putting up a fuss!

Nice Helmet - Far Too Fragile

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Had two kids in this helmet. Adjustment mechanism broke on both - one almost immediately , the other in their first season. The ?grow with you? system is a great idea but no way this helmet survives multiple seasons with a kid. Reached out to Smith, waiting to see what, if anything, they?ll do about it.
