Wy We Like The I/O MAG Chromapop Goggles

We thought the I/O couldn't get any better at keeping our eyes on the prize, snow or shine, and then Smith's I/O MAG came along. The I/O MAG Chromapop Goggles comes with all the same technological advantages as Smith's previous top-tier I/O series, now with a lens change system that's easier than ever to use. Magnets placed throughout the frame resist natural forces when you're ripping around the mountain, yet make midday lens changes a snap when the clouds roll in post-lunch.

Sticky substance all over strap

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Purchased the I/O MAG goggles at the end of Spring and even purchased and extra lens for them, and then bought a new Smith Vantage helmet this Fall. There is a sticky substance all over the inside of the goggle strap that I thought might just cling to the helmet to stay in place, but instead it smeared all over the new helmet. It took a hour and a bunch of Goo Gone to clean the helmet. I just hope the Goo Gone didn’t hurt the helmet’s plastic somehow and doesn’t discolor it in the future. The strap is still a disgusting mess that I have no idea how to clean and I really don’t want to use it again and make another mess of the helmet, but I just spent good money on these expensive goggles. I love the Vantage helmet, but I doubt I buy another pair of Smith goggles ever again.

Super small

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Beyond small, had to look twice when I opened the box because I thought they sent me kids goggles. Tried to give them away and got them back after one day with the comment these are small, tons of air and I can’t see with so much frame in my vision.

Goggles are great. No fogging.

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I tried so many goggles and ended up with these because they rarely fogged and have a good field of view. Had them for 2 seasons now. Lens are super easy to swap out if a storm rolls in.

Not Durable

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

The attachment point between the strap and the goggle frame broke after fewer than 10 days of use. Agree with others on the delicate lenses as well. Mine had a few scratches despite always being handled with care and kept in the bag when not in use.

My Favorite Ski Goggles

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Great field of vision with these. The chromapop lenses provide great clarity when skiing, and the always stay fog free. The googles themselves and the foam gasket are extremely comfortable, and these fit me very well with my Smith Vantage MIPS Helmet (XL), I do not experience any nose discomfort with these goggles. Lens changes aren't the fastest ever, but it's not that difficult, I do always end up with fingerprints on the lenses when changing them.

My favorite of all goggles.

Familiarity:

I love these. This is my second pair, after these I?ll buy em again. They fit great and look amazing! These fit really well with Smith helmets. Swapping the lenses on goggles have never been easier and I can?t wait to rock these this winter.

Love These Goggles!

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

If you are needing a new pair of goggles, look no further. No issues with the lens falling out like other mag goggles. Only takes a time or two to figure out how to change lenses then it is easy!

Nice Goggles

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Got these to combine separate low light/everyday goggles to one. I wish the swap was just a little easier. It only take a few seconds but if you are doing it on the lift you are taking your gloves off. I found that I could not wear my glasses with these and had to get RX prescription inserts but the combination is good. So far I have only used the Everyday Violet Mirror Lens. It was great on sunny day with shadows being cast on the runs. Riding up the chair lift was to bright and might opt for the full sun lenses if I am skiing with the sun in my line of sight. Be Careful stretching these over the back of your helmet. I have personally witnessed a failure on the plastic strap attachment to the goggle.
