Forward thinking.

Match your rad Smith sunnies to an equally unique helmet aesthetic with the Smith Forefront Helmet. Venturing far from tradition construction, the Forefront's Aerocore technology uses Karoyd material for a look that's straight out of the future with boosted safety to match. Its honeycomb motif is accompanied by claims of a 30% reduction in force transmission, which in turn reduces injury risk if you happen to hit the deck.

While Aerocore construction boasts a host of advantages, massive, open vents isn’t one of them, so Smith adds integrated camera and light mounts to safely attach your gadgets. While they do require accessories, these mounts are much more secure than the standard strap mounts used to mount those items to other helmets, and the benefits show up immediately with notably more stable POV footage.

  • Lightweight protection with a unique style
  • Karoyd material reduces force transmission
  • X-Static lining with Reactive Cooling Performance
  • VaporFit retention system adjust easily on the fly
  • AerEvac ventilation provides cooling airflow
  • Integrated camera and light mounts

Amazing Helmet

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

Super comfortable first of all. It feels light to the point that I forget I am wearing a helmet. I get plenty of ventilation to keep my head cool in hot weather. I pretty much wear it on all rides from XC, trail and light DH. Overall, an awesome helmet.

Cool Safty

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These days you do not see anyone on the mountain without a helmet. I am glad! This helmet is designed with smith's Karoyd material which reduces force transmission, and lends to a great airflow on the cranium.
The color is trendy, and i am excited to use the camera mount.

Pretty, and great in paper

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The honey-comb, straw-like structure used in the helmet reduces the airflow rather than improving it, because of their length. You feel hot air trapped on the top of your head on hot summer rides. On cooler weathers, it works and looks like a charm.
To adapt your go pro camera to this helmet, you need to buy an additional component.

Best Helmet Ever!

Seems to just fit my noggin very well!! This is the second Smith I own, after looking at many others, nothing seemed to fit as well, so I just decided to buy another Smith!! This helmet is very light, much lighter than most.
I wore this helmet in a full on rain storm, it was crazy, but the honeycomb construction kept my head dry!

Unreal fit

This helmet has met all the specs that I wanted! The fit is the best I have felt great ventilation and it's a bonus it looks rad too.

    Great helmet!

This helmet is very comfortable and well built. It also looks great. It also comes with a goggle attachment if you’re into that stuff. I think this is one of the best looking helmets on the market and doesn’t seem big on your head. I do have two things to point out that aren’t perfect though. My first observation is that it isn’t the most breathable. It is decent, but not the best. Next, the ear straps are also not the best and I find that a lot of times the go on top of my ears in stead of around them. Besides those two things, this helmet is fantastic!

      Mean Green Head Protectin' Machine!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This helmet is rad. Super ventilated, fits EXTREMELY well, and the honey comb design helps to keep bugs out while riding! And if that's not enough to make you want to wear it on a good shralpin' sesh, how about the fact that it looks super pro?! That autta do it for you! Protect your noggin' from a good floggin' with this guy, you won't regret it!

Fits like a glove...I mean helmet

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

My new favorite. Fits great and isn't overly bulky like some helmets are. Very lightweight and well constructed all throughout. Plus 50% off?! Thanks Backcountry.

      Excellent Helmet

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I was a little concerned that this helmet wouldn't breath as well as some of the helmets that have large open vents. The honeycomb design works very well. It is plenty cool and feels much more solid than other helmets I've owned.

      Best in the game!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Love this helmet. The fit is great, the dial on the back really gets you into a snug fit. The airflow is awesome and my head has never been too hot, even on the steep trails. Plus it's a great looking helmet compared to some others out there. Way hyped on my purchase!

      Smith Forefront Helmet

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size

I purchased the Smith Forefront helmet several weeks ago. First it fits well. The sizing dial on the back is easy to adjust on the fly. Secondly its designed for excellent air flow. The honeycomb pattern and horizontal slit design allows air to flow into the helmet keeping my head nice and cool even when the temperatures are in the mid-eighties. Third, I like the looks. I have the camo helmet and it looks really good. Fourth: I like the head coverage. The helmet extends back providing great protection all around my head. I can't quantify how much I love my head. Fifth: The helmet is very comfortable. It stays secure on my head, it has great cushioning inside, and is lightweight. Sixth: Attention to detail. This helmet looks quality. It looks like this helmet will last a long-time and is made from quality materials. Seventh: The straps work well and are easy to adjust. Eighth: I can wear sun glasses with this helmet. I've ridden with my prescription and sunglasses without bumping or scraping. Negatives: None.
Bottom line: I love this helmet and recommend it to anyone that wants a quality helmet. Its a little pricey, but I wear a helmet every time I ride my bike. The helmet is in full contact with my head 100% of the time. You can skimp on some components, but not the helmet. I recommend buying this helmet and I believe you won't be disappointed.

      Lightweight and Airy

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Solid helmet that is lightweight and gives great airflow. I literally have never had a helmet that gave me this much air flow to my sweaty scalp.

I do miss having holes to put my glasses, but you can still flip your glasses upside down and rest them in the lower channel.

      Lightweight and Comfy

      • Fit: True to size

This is a great helmet at the price point. Lightweight on your head with plenty of venting to keep you cool.

      Just Awesome

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

      I love this helmet. LOVE.

Got the bright orange because I commute and have to ride roads a decent amount each week, and I really feel like it stands out and makes me more noticeable. I have zero proof of this effect, other than never having been hit by a car, which is my ultimate goal.

Secondarily, orange looks pretty sick in pictures. Living here in the mountains, we get a lot of blue sky. You know what contrasts perfectly with blue? Orange. Boom. You're welcome.

Looks sweet, gets you noticed, breathes well.

      Hardkor

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Are you looking for a headpiece with a tough outer shell, smooth breathability, and flawless adjustability? If you answered “yes” to any of those questions then STOP READING and get you a Smith Forefront Helmet. If you still have reservations, “ohhh I don’t know, my Bell helmet from the 80s works just fine.” Or “ohhh I don’t know if I can justify the cost.” Also STOP READING, cuz I’m mad at you…I’m sorry, I just get worked up about these things, but really, this is a great helmet, the Aerocore (refrigerator tech) technology keeps your head as cool as...I’m running out of ‘cool’ metaphors.

In the end, it’s an expensive helmet, but it’s a really good helmet. It looks good, it works well, and I recommend it.

      Great Fit and Function

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

After trying several helmets we settled on this Forefront from Smith. It is light and breathable.

      Lightweight and great fit!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This helmet rocks. The VaporFit adjustments allows for the perfect fit on this helmet and the AirVac ventilation ensures that your noggin never gets too warm! I also love all of the awesome color options that this helmet comes in. And, the integration with Smith biking glasses is a nice addition so that when you take your glasses off, they fit snugly off your face on your helmet, even while still riding!

      Lightweight style

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The folks at Smith did an excellent job of designing a lightweight helmet that stands out in the field, but a few of the features, like the tiny visor and the hokey sunglass channel, don't quite deliver.

      Great Helmet

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This helmet is rad! Bought this one to replace my Rudy Project and the fit is phenomenal! Lots of airflow and super comfortable!

Comfy, light, and looks good too.

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Awesome helmet. I started with a cheaper helmet off the bat. I always saw tons of people with this helmet and figured there must be something to that. I got one and have never looked back. Different brands will fit different people but this is one of the most comfy helmets I have worn. The Aerocore technology keeps the helmet super light and breathable without looking too crazy with a bunch of vents.

      Highly recommend.
