From slopes to cabin.

Start and end your day in the same piece, the SmartWool Merino 250 Baselayer One-Piece. You can wear it on the slopes as a performance piece and then around the cabin as the perfect après garb due to the natural odor resistant properties of the Merino construction that keep you fresh. While you're bombing groomers and finding fresh pockets of powder, the breathable fabric will keep you cool and the flatlock seam construction will keep your chafe free. When nature calls, you've got a fly and a zippered drop tail so you can do your thing stress free. If it's a particularly chilly day, throw on the close-fit hood that wears comfortably under your helmet. If and when you finally have to take this baselayer off, a center front zipper makes it easy for you.

  • Performance one piece for day long comfort on the slopes
  • Merino wool thermoregulates and is naturally odor resistant
  • Flatlock seam construction eliminates rubbing and chaffing
  • Fly and zippered drop tail offers no-fuss restroom breaks
  • Center front zipper makes for an easy on and off
  • Close-fit hood is comfortable under a helmet

One Piece Wonder

  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

I've been searching for the perfect one piece base layer for quite some time and I think I've finally found it. The Smartwool Merino 250 is just the right weight for those cold, crisp, Jan-Feb snow days. I pair this with my one piece HH ULLR suit for the ultimate in cold weather comfort.

As the other review states the drop seat is a bit different than what I was expecting. The zipper creates a belt like feeling that keeps the crotch in the correct spot, which I actually really like. Other one piece base layers I've worn tend to get saggy over time, causing the crotch to sit lower than wanted. Highly recommend this product like i do with all my Smartwool gear!

SmartWool is my jam.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Remember the days of cruising your childhood home with a onesie that was equipped with booties? Enter adulthood with this onesie from SmartWool (minus the booties). I have been using this since the black-friday sale cause no one I know can afford to pay full price for this stuff. The feel and warmth of the Merino is top-shelf. Durability will be determined as I have had merino boxer briefs in the past and they have began falling apart after 1 year of washing and normal drying. Lesson learned. Do not put your merino in the Dryer ! Airdry only! The onesie also has a hood to pull up that supplements your head sock on extra cold moments. I have used this ice climbing, back-country skiing and resort skiing. I love the fit in a medium. I am 6 feet tall and 155-165 pounds normally. My waist is size 32. I have a longer torso. I also own the ortovox rock n wool onesie and I like the fit and weight of this smartwool better. I am usually a cold person till I get up to a good operating temperature. wicking is awesome and stench is non-noticable for days. Hoping to increase durability by washing less frequently. The zippers feel good next to my body and the pocket on the chest is big enough for a plus version of your favorite iphone, so Keep STRAVA rolling.

My only gripe and the reason not giving 5 stars is the drop seat. If you are commando in the suit it will work great on the throne. If you wear a merino boxer under it can be hard to get adjusted to dropping the kids off at the pool. Also, fishing through all of that merino while wearing a harness can be difficult if you have been drinking a lot of coffee that morning. Problem solved by living the commando philosophy. If your thinking about the purchase and your looking to re-live your childhood fantasy of onsie then buy with confidence. I'm looking forward to wearing this thing around the house and skiing cold winter days.

SmartWool is my jam.

How to Measure:
For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
Chest:
Measure under your arms, around fullest part of chest and back circumference.
Waist:
Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.
Hip:
Stand with feet together and measure around the fullest part of the hip.
Arm Length:
With elbow bent slightly, measure from center back of neck, across top of shoulder, to elbow and down to wrist bone.
Inseam:
Measure along inside leg from crotch to ankle bone. Or using pants that fit well, measure the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.
