I feel like a new man

These boxers have changed my life

    Amazing boxers - to short

I’m a 34 and got a large that’s great. But, if you have any form of muscle in your legs they are going to be to short and very constricting on the “area”

        Better than I thought

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
        • Fit: True to size
        • Size Bought: Medium

I own several different brands of wool underwear and it took some time and finally a sale to convince me to try the Smartwool 150 Boxer Briefs. Man...what I have been doing all this time? Stretching over the life time is much less compared to say, Stoic. Stitching is impeccable and the waistband really adds another level of comfort, whether I'm out climbing, skiing, or stuck in fishing waders all day.

Definitely try them out if you haven't.

        VG brief, outstanding customer service

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times
        • Fit: True to size

First, the new waist band works great for me, athletic build if that even matters. As always, I expect them to remain comfortable and fit well throughout their lifespan; but, I also expect them to wear through sooner then I would hope. As odd as it is, my first Smartwool briefs, were different in construction (their first year here in the states) and they had the longest lifespan.

Now onto Backcountry customer service. My order got lost in the mail, they responded quickly and have been so personable and in the end even gracious. Thank you Jaclyn Richards for all of your attention and help. As a new customer, I can only say my experience could not have been more positive if it was my local shop. I look forward to a long busniess relationship with an online company I am glad to have found. Thank you:)

        Comfy Boxer Breifs

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

These guys are soft and comfy and keep everything where it needs to be. Glafd to own these boxer breifs.

        Extremely comfortable, lack durability

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
        • Fit: True to size
        • Size Bought: Medium

I have had both generations and do not mind the new waistband. I love skiing on cold days and climbing in the heat in these, the benefits of the material probably outweigh the downside. The pairs that I have worn 70 - 100 days are full of holes large and small. After about 30 days of use all pairs that I have owned (6 pairs) have had at least one hole from regular use.

        Why the change?

Like others, I’ve been a loyal Smartwool fan for years. The recent change to the waistband is a head scratcher though as the old versions were far more comfortable. The newer waistband annoyingly flips around when changing or adjusting my pants or tucking my shirt, and it feels too tight despite being the proper size. I hope they’re reading this and making some adjustments. Otherwise, this is a fantastic product.

            I miss the old version

            • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
            • Fit: Runs small

I had 8 pairs of the old version and LOVED them. Soft but supportive, not too tight, not too loose. The new version has an extra thick waistband that is way tighter than the last version. I tried sizing up but it was still uncomfortable. Disappointed.

I have the exact same feedback. The waistband and overall fit of the older version was more comfortable.

            Overall comfy

            • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
            • Fit: True to size
            • Size Bought: Medium

Overall comfy, perfect fly, not too much pressure around the legs, it's actually kinda of loose, which I find to be perfect.

            Why change a good thing?

The old version of these were great. Wore them pretty much exclusively for years and only recently did two pairs rip. Bought 4 pairs of the new one expecting the same thing. New waistband is much higher and about double the thickness (and way too tight) and the general fit is much tighter. The inseam also feels shorter. Will be returning.

              Just okay

              • Familiarity: I've used it several times
              • Fit: True to size
              • Size Bought: Large

I purchased these to test out as another option over the ExOfficio Give-N-Go boxer that I use heavily. The smartwool seems to be of good construction, but the sizing was a little off for me. The waist didn't have too much stretch, so I had to up-size to a large over my normal mediums. The large fits my waist, but the leg openings stretched out after the first day. They seem to tighten up with washing, but I prefer a brand that keeps it's shape over a longer duration. They work as a one day wear, but not as good as a several day item.

              Great outdoor baselayer

              • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
              • Fit: True to size

I have worn these on everything from long freezing alpine climbing routes to short hard sport climbing routes in the summer, and I love them so much I even do my trail running with them now. Great adaptability to multiple weather conditions, good moisture control, good durability, great fit, and great comfort make these my favorite baselayer for just about every activity (and I use the long version for ice climbing and skiing in the coldest conditions). I think the sizing is listed fairly accurately but if anything these tend to be slightly smaller than the size (i.e., I have a bit thicker thighs than the skinny runner type legs and I wear 32 pants and the medium size fits great, barely snug but in a comfortable way, as underwear should).

              How to Measure:
For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
              Chest:
Measure under your arms, around fullest part of chest and back circumference.
              Waist:
Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.
              Hip:
Stand with feet together and measure around the fullest part of the hip.
              Arm Length:
With elbow bent slightly, measure from center back of neck, across top of shoulder, to elbow and down to wrist bone.
              Inseam:
Measure along inside leg from crotch to ankle bone. Or using pants that fit well, measure the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.
