Merino 150 Bikini

  • Comfortable underwear for active lifestyles
  • Merino wool is soft and odor-resistant
  • Synthetic blend is stretchy and moisture-wicking
  • Bikini cut lets you wear with almost any outfit

Awful fit, feels cheap

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: small

These do not fit well at all, they fall on the most uncomfortable, unflattering places. They seem to run a little small, but I don't think that is the main issue. They also feel very cheap; the fabric is flimsy and not very stretchy, not what I expected from Smartwool or for such an expensive pair of underwear. Do not recommend.

Better than Icebreaker

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: XS

I've owned the Icebreaker sprite hot pants and siren, and I have to say the Smartwool merino 150 beats them by a wide margin. No wonder it was the top pick on Outdoor Gear Lab. It's much more comfortable and stretchier than the other two, and unlike the sprite hot pants, it doesn't give me a wedgie. It also dries really fast. My Icebreakers lasted for a year and a half before getting a hole, we'll see how long my Smartwool lasts.

Update: After three months of regular wear, my underwear has developed a hole by the waistband. I'm disappointed they only lasted three months, but I intend on sending them to Smartwool for a replacement.

Gets the job done

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: XL

Pros: lightweight, moisture wicking, cool.
Cons: fit is ok, nothing remarkable. I prefer the fit of the Smartwool PhD seamless bikini. The fabric is quite thin so I'm not sure how durable it will be.

    How to Measure:
For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
    Chest:
Measure under your arms, around fullest part of chest and back circumference.
    Waist:
Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.
    High Hip:
Measure around high hip circumference approximately 3-inch below natural waistline.
    Hip:
Stand with feet together and measure around the fullest part of the hip.
    Arm Length:
With elbow bent slightly, measure from center back of neck, across top of shoulder, to elbow and down to wrist bone.
    Inseam:
Measure along inside leg from crotch to ankle bone. Or using pants that fit well, measure the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.
