Warmth when you need it most.
After hiking all day with a heavy pack, setting up camp, and getting your bear bag hung, chances are you're going to be pretty sweaty, so you're going to want to get into something warm before the sun sets and the mountain air turns cold. The Sierra Designs Men's DriDown Jacket fits the bill with a 650-fill hydrophobic down that repels moisture, so you can get a little sweat in there without having to worry about the moisture robbing the down of its insulating properties. The tear-resistant nylon, polyester fabric is treated with a DWR finish for extra protection from the elements, and the tall collar provides some extra protection for your neck and chin.

- Q & A
- Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
- Fit: True to size
Was looking for something to get my fiancee's brother, and this was a great option. He needed something to wear around the city and to work that would be lightweight and warm. The price tag is great too!
Sizing seamed off
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
- Size Bought: small
I liked everything about the jacket, different material finish that looked similar to poly ripstop, but with a flat "micro-texture" and did not feel quite as slippery or loud as regular ripstop. However, the sizing seemed way off, I am 5-9 slender build and tried both the small and medium. The small felt very fitted, and physically smaller than other jackets in size small, ie: tight everywhere, I could barely close the zipper. The medium fit exactly the opposite, physical bigger than any other jacket I have. I typically wear a medium that runs on the mall size.
Also, jacket weighed just under 16 oz in a medium.
The Best Lightweight Insulation Layer!
This Sierra Designs DriDown Sweater Jacket is a favorite of mine! With Sierra Designs using DriDown for this sweater jacket, even if this sweater jacket gets somewhat wet, it still keep you warm unlike regular down. That is huge! As always Sierra Designs has kept it real with their craftsmanship of this sweater jacket, materials used and functionality. It is a fitted fit which I like as I use this under my hard shells. This Sierra Designs DriDown Sweater Jacket has thumb holes so what I have done is use them and throw on gloves and you have complete protection from the elements! This Sierra Designs DriDown Sweater Jacket barely weighs anything, packs up small and comes in a few different colors. Granted, with any down garment you have to expect it to leak out down, so that is the only pain in the ass thing I have had with this Sierra Designs DriDown Sweater Jacket. The price is below what the Outdoor Research Filament jacket I recent reviewed is, so I say go get you this Sierra Designs DriDown Sweater Jacket if you want a great down insulation jacket for backpacking or even around town. This is not a super puffy jacket, so keep in mind this is a mid sized on the warmth it can give you. But it was dramatically warmer then the Outdoor Research Filiment. Berz Rating: 93/100
