Sierra Designs Backcountry Bed 800 Sleeping Bag: 25 Degree Down - Women's

Warm, light, and unbelievably cozy.

Sierra Designs redefined cozy camping with its Women's Backcountry Bed 800 Sleeping Bag so you can sleep comfortably out in the wilderness whether you're backpacking or camping out of your car. Free from heavy, extraneous hardware like bulky zippers and drawcords, this intuitive bag features an oval-shaped opening with an integrated comforter that helps the bag adapt to variable temperatures. You can tuck the comforter's sides snugly beneath you and stay warm in temps as low as 15°F, or you can pull the comforter out to stay comfortable during the warmer parts of the night. Its unique mummy design has a women-specific fit and allows you to sleep on your stomach or sides as well as your back, which is excellent because most mummy bags only let you sleep comfortably on your back. Sierra Designs stuffed this bag with lofty 800-fill duck insulation that has an excellent weight-to-warmth ratio so you don't have much weight on your back when you head out on a backpacking trip, and the insulation has Sierra Design's proprietary DriDown insulation that's water-resistant and dries faster than untreated down.

Sierra Designs built the Backcountry Bed's shell out of ripstop for durability and the liner out of taffeta for your comfort. This bag also features insulated pockets for your arms so you never wake up in the middle of the night because your hand slipped out of the bag and is slowly chilling. There's also an integrated sleeve for your sleeping pad so you never roll off of it during the night and wake up on the rocky ground. This sleeping bag is light and compressible enough for backpacking and warm enough for chilly nights.

Like a bed in the Backcountry

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

If you feel claustrophobic and love backpacking, then this is great for you. I Got this as a gift and the recipient normally feels a bit claustrophobic when in regular zip up bags. This is a nice feature on the bag to not have a typical side zip bag.

"Being able to just slide in and pull over the covers is nice"

If you are into a nice and easy bag this would work out really well.

Not for a serious adventure

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I was intrigued by the concept of this sleeping bag and was so excited when it arrived in the mail. However, after trying it out I decided pretty quickly that this was not a keeper. Yes, you can tuck the comforter in, but it pops out the moment you turn and your body gets exposed. I didn't see other reviewers having problems with this though, so maybe I just need to work on my turning technique..? :) Everything else about this sleeping bag was great - it seemed very well made, the color was just as pictured above, and the 800 fill felt so cozy. I feel bad about giving a two star review, but I can't recommend this product for any outdoor adventure.

Like sleeping in my own bed!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I LOVE this sleeping bag. I sleep on my sides (both) so having a sleeping bag without a zipper is amazing. It feels like I have my comforter with me and can cuddle up with the edges of it and sleep like i'm at home.

Additionally, the flap to allow my feet out at the bottom to vent is incredible. I can regulate my temp without having to move my upper body, and the little flap thing doesn't let any cold air in when I have my feet tucked into my bag.
