Sidi Buvel Shoe - Men's
SidiBuvel Shoe - Men's

Refreshingly simple and sturdy.

Realizing that most trail riders subject their footwear to rigorous torture, the Sidi Men's Buvel Shoe is a tough-wearing shoe without the carbon widgets or flashy features of Sidi's top-tier offerings. That proves to be a good thing, especially if you're the type of rider who's seeking comfort and efficiency over weight savings and race-specific design. As such, the Politex upper features a synthetic material, which enhances the shoe's longevity against numerous rock strikes and riding abuse.

Offering a micro-adjustable fit, the Caliper buckle system retains the foot firmly in place to prevent energy-sapping heel lift. Two lower hook-and-loop straps comfortably secure the mid-foot and lower section for a superb fit. The reinforced Tallone Sidi heelcup keeps the food in an optimal pedaling position while preventing deformity over time. And to transfer power to the pedals, the Competition sole uses nylon in place of carbon for efficiency, but without the unrelenting stiffness of a dedicated race shoe. Optional toe spike attachments give cross-country racers aggressive traction over muddy sections and slippery trail surfaces.

  • Tough-wearing trail shoes maximize comfort and efficiency
  • Competition nylon sole transfers power to the pedals
  • Aggressive tread pattern for sure-footed grip
  • Durable synthetic upper with breathable perforations
  • Caliper buckle system for micro-adjustable fit
  • Sidi fuses Italian quality with riding comfort

Great Shoe

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I found this shoe to very comfortable, very well made. I missed the mark and ordered my street shoe size and found it was too large for a bike shoe... not the shoes fault it was my miss judgement plus the half size was not available still... so still looking. I tries the Sidi Genius Fit about 6 months ago and they are not as comfortable as these Sidi Buvelt.

Nice shoes!

  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 46

Very happy with my purchase. Shoes look and feel great. I chose the yellow and the color is definitely more fluorescent than in the pictures ( think safety vest yellow) but I love it. I wear an 11 to 11.5 in regular shoes and I wear a 46 in Sidi's. The fit is perfect. Heel is locked in tight and just enough room in the toe area in case I want to wear a thick sock in winter. Construction is spot on and packaging was nice as well. Sidi even throws in a sticker page, extra screws and a hex wrench for your cleats as well. Overall very satisfied. Recommend.

Love the shoe...why did I buy white??!!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 45

I love these shoes!! The fit is great and the buckle is a nice feature I never had before. The blue matches my bike great but I wish I went with the non white. After a couple rides they're stained, and they should be, they're mountain bike shoes. My poor color decision doesn't take away from how truly awesome these shoes are!

Giddy for Sidi!

These are great shoes! Although they are kind of an entry level Sidi, they fit well, have a stiff enough sole, great closure system, and look great. Fits true to size.

if need be, are these shoes good to walk in. I'll be doing a adventure race and may need to climb off the bike to walk over or around obstacles. Thanks

Am I the only one with this problem?

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size

In my opinion, a huge design flaw of Sidi is the Instep Closure System (the top strap). It's adjustable on both sides. The issue is the plastic buckle on the crank (inner) side of the shoe, it hits the crank when you pedal. Literally on my first ride it was snapping on my cranks every other pedal stroke. Visible damage to my crank after the first ride. WTF Sidi, why the hell would you put an exposed plastic piece on the inner side of the shoe, a terrible design flaw in my opinion. As a single speeder and XC racer, I'm always riding my show close to the crank. What were they thinking? Returning.

My 2002ish Sidi Dominator's did the same thing. After snipping off the excess plastic that extended past the buckle the issue was solved. You're right, not the best design, but after 16 years of wear I can say it is a minor flaw to an overall great shoe.

You simply need to cut it, keep the SIDI logo on the strap in the middle and cut the left over, this is SIDI advice

Mr. Ripper, if you would look closely at the part of the strap that is
hitting the cranks it is marked with sizing guides. The strap is
removable and you simply cut the strap to fit so it does not stick
out and rub on your crank.

Update: so I kept these, obviously I had cut the strap before I reported my issue, anyway I ended up just putting a little tape over the plastic piece which helped. Just the way my knees ride, my foot always seems to be angled in toward the crank. I also updated the strap to the Tecno 3 which is great. The shoe is awesome, very comfortable and race worthy.

    Worth The Price

This is an amazingly versatile product. The shoe can be used for mountain biking, cyclocross and even a bit of road riding. I use this shoe about every day and has been well worth the investment. It suits beginners and pros alike. This product best works for junior pro cross county mountain bike racers. Over all it is an amazing product and well worth the money.

    Real life shoe color

I was surprised to see the shoe appears to be a different color than what the online product pictures depict. In person the shoe is very neon, whereas the pics online shoe a deep saturated orange mixed with warm reds.

What country is the orange Buvel made in?

    Nice stiffness and good value

The shoes fit true to size; the straps could be just a touch longer, but do the job. They are a very good value for such nice cycling shoes.
