ShimanoXTR PD-M9000 Race Pedal

At the top of the curve.

For a sport that relishes in mud and sand, paying a premium for components seems counter-intuitive. Once in a while something comes along that is worth every grain of sand. The Shimano XTR M-9000 Race Pedals are just that something.

Most noticeable is the weight. The M-9000 pedals are nearly 100 grams lighter than cheaper pedals, reducing extra weight you’ll be carrying on your frame. They are fabricated with lightweight, durable chromoly spindles and aluminum pedal bodies, ensuring fast, reliable cleat-to-pedal engagement, each and every time. And, while the bearings are still wide-set for stiffness, the axle-bearing interface has been revamped for increased smoothness and longevity.

  • Compatible with Shimano SM-SH51 (single release angle) cleats and SM-SH56 (multi-release angle) cleats
  • Hex adjustable entry and tension

Great Warranty

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've ridden these for years. Got some new ones for my son after he broke a different brand. One pedal broke within a few months of receiving it. Without question we were sent a new one. Not a single problem with any of them before or since.

It's worth the price

These are the bomb!!! There is a huge debate out there about the minimum advantage you get from updating to XTR pedals...well don't listen. These pedals are well worth it. Super durable, super light, and super rad.

Timeless

these pedals will last for years to come. tough to beat these bad boys.

Great Upgrade

For years I was a loyal crank brothers user. From Candy to Eggbeaters and when they broke, which they often did, I replaced them. This last time I decided to make the change to Shimano XTR as it was too costly and frustrating to not have reliable pedals. Since making the change to the XTR pedals, the platform is more stable, entry and exit are outstanding and even if I do miss the clip on the first time around it's easy to push and then click in after a start. I use these on my cyclocross bike and my only regret is not making the change sooner. I didn't realize how loose feeling my egg beaters and candy felt until now. I haven't been out in the mud with them yet to see how they shed but the pedal is open enough that I have to believe it will have the same or better performance as my old egg beaters. Great upgrade to my race bike. I even bought another pair of spd Shimano XT pedals for my mountain bike.

    Great pedals

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

New to mountain biking. These pedals are great, lightweight and very durable. I highly recommend them.

    Best Pedal Period

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have ridden XTR pedals for over a decade and they have always taken a beating and never given up. Just change the grease every season and they will last forever, it seems. The cleat system is the easiest to use and the most secure. In mud, they may not be the best but you should not be riding in mud anyway (bad for the trails) and I don't know if any other pedal would be that much better.

If the price is too much, the XT version is essentially just as good just a little heavier but were talking grams not pounds.....

    Order situation

I made an order but according to the app I have to call to customer service. I would like to know in what situation my order is. Thank you very much.

      best of the best

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

If you like SPD pedals, this is the king. Great durability for a race pair of pedals.
XT are on most the bikes, but XTR's for race day and the lower weight. Always work well in the majority of conditions.

      Strong and Reliable

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Have raced mountain and cross for years only on XTR SPD's. Can take a beating from hitting rocks and roots, scraping in corners, being in mud & rain, riding in snow and freezing conditions. Easy to adjust tension for a 95lb rider to someone who is over 200lbs. This version has a larger surface area for the shoe contact over the last model and is lighter. Great pedals.

      Perfection.

What more do you want? Clips in super easily, incredibly durable, and lightweight. Never any surprises.

      Indestructible

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

They connect my feet to the crank perfectly every time.

      Indestructible!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have been on XTR pedals since 2012 with no issues. This was just such a great price I could not resist buying a second pair. If you want something 100% reliable that will last for a long long time there is no other choice.

      Beautiful pedals, great price

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These are the best SPD pedals one can buy, and at the best price. The spindle has a brushed texture which reflects a high quality build. I have done 200 miles and they still look new. I look forward to the next 200 miles!

Shimano pedals are fantastic and have never given me any trouble.

      Great pedals

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Replaced my 90s Ritchey Logics with these because I was tired of how poorly they cleared mud and at this price it was worth checking them out.
They couldn't have been a better investment. I raced on them all spring and performed flawlessly. I've only had one issue clipping in, and that was because I had a piece of wood jammed in my cleat. Wood.

Best pedals out there! Glad to hear they are working out.

      Lasts

Just replacing my last pair after 5 hard years of use. Long lasting and great retention.

        Just bought my second set

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Bought my first set in 2007. Just bought my second set this week. First set is still totally usable. Enough said.

        Lifetime

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

If you are looking for pedals that last a lifetime, then Shiamano SPD pedals are the one. They have a very low fail rate. When you buy a pair of Shimano SPD pedals you will easily get a couple years out of them. I highly recommend them.

        Shimano XTR PD-M9000 Race Pedal

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Pedal standards come and go but SPD's defined the market. I'm on my ~4th pair of XTR's over the years and could not imagine any reason to go with other standards. I have never had a pair fail during the many 1000's of miles I have abused them, will definitely buy again.

        THE Pedal

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The pedal by which all others are judged. I jump between these and the XT model. Oddly enough, the entry and exit in the XTR actually does feel a little smoother. Also, the spindle section of this pedal is ovalized slightly to allow for better mud clearance, which is nice if you ride in nasty weather or race Cyclocross. Otherwise these are very very similar to the XT model. If you have a few extra dollars, I would say, Treat Yo Self.
