Ballin on a Budget
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Great piece for the money. Not as Smooth as the XTR, but you can easily hop from gear to gear quite smoothly with this derailleur.

Haven't had any issues with it. Works consistently and reliably on my XC bike. I chose to use XT components on my Enduro bike though.
Very good value and solid performing derailleur.
I have SLXs on two different 1 X 11 drivetrains (26/ 11-42 & 30/ 11-46) and they've both worked flawlessly thru all kinds of nastiness.
11 speed SLX seems to be the work horse of Shimano's 11 speed drive trains. While it may not be as light as XTR and have the super smooth shifting, it is nice to have the piece of mind when smashing through rocks that I do not have a carbon cage to worry about.
The SLX rear derailleur's does shift cleaner than older XT products in the past. The clear advantage is Shimano's new clutch design to provide chain retention, so you can run a 1X configuration with a 11-46 cassette. If you like to get that derailleur, please let me know, and I should be able to help out.
