A slightly-wider Flite.

Selle Italia’s venerable Flite Saddle has long been a favorite of road racers, mountain bike riders, and just about everyone else in between, but it doesn’t fit those cursed with wider-than-average sit bones. Enter the Max Flite Gel Flow. The Max Flite takes the classic Flite shape, and hits the ‘enhance’ button a couple times, resulting in a quite long, mid-width saddle that’s every bit as comfortable as its more streamlined brethren. Final measurements are 146x290mm, which put it about 10mm wider than your average, narrow-width saddle.

The extra width, combined with firm gel under the cover, and the Flow pressure relief channel, make the Max Flite ideal for long rides over less-than-ideal tarmac, or even gravel.

  • Wider version of the long-running Flite
  • Gel inserts to reduce vibration
  • 146mm width

I'm concerned about the side strength and possible sagging. I weigh about 300lb.

Hey Bob,

I think I saw the max rider weight listed at 220 lbs on this saddle.

heavier but much more comfortable

i'm 5'9 and weigh 165-lbs, and i rarely have issues with seat comfort, yet i found this saddle to be a noticeable improvement over my prior SI's. i bought this saddle for a new build due to extremely attractive pricing (found on sale) and i am incredibly happy with it.

pros - comfort is amazing, gel padding really works. thickness takes a little getting used to, but streamlined shape helps avoid a bulky feel.

cons - the only thing i can think of is that it adds 50-100g in weight vs. most other selle italias, but that's more than offset by the increased riding comfort in my opinion, especially if you can find it for just over $100.

Great value in an incredibly comfortable saddle when you can find it on sale.

i've ridden it several times, but not enough to be able to comment on wear/tear, so will update later if needed.

    Hello there Rickshaw.

¿Have you tried the SLR Max Flow? and if you have, ¿which do you prefer and why? Thanks a lot

I haven't tried the SLR max flow, so can't compare/contrast. sorry.
