Going up.

You're usually the first skier in the backcountry whenever there's a fresh dumping of soft, deep powder, which means you have the sworn duty of setting the skin track, which is as difficult to set as it is rewarding to get first turns. The Sego Women's Up Tour Ski sports a directional early rise tip that pokes out of the deeps to make it easier on the uphill. It also only weighs three pounds per ski, so you'll probably end up catching up with whoever wakes up before you, and consequentially setting the skin track every time.

As for the downhill, well you'd be hard-pressed to find a plank more versatile for the backcountry's ever-changing conditions. You won't sit out the days without powder, which is good because this ski rides both soft and firm conditions with equal zeal. The rocker tip and tail obviously ride powder like a dream—not to mention the way the swallowtail makes all that snow fly in the air—but there's enough camber to employ tight turns and hold an edge when you're cruising down firm snow through trees. Sego added plenty of carbon and VDS rubber to keep vibrations and chatter down to a minimum when you reach higher speeds.
