An umbrella for your feet.
A little rain and mud never hurt anyone, but the fate of riding with wet toes squishing around in cold, waterlogged shoes has forced more than a few hardy riders to head home early for the day. Rather than bailing early on a good ride to go dry off your feet, you could invest in Sealskinz MTB Ankle Sock with Hydrostop to buy yourself more time to enjoy the tacky trails. Made with waterproof, windproof Stretchdry fabric, the sock comes complete with a breathable merino wool liner and elasticized cuff to stop enterprising water droplets from soaking the socks from above.
- Mountain bike socks for riding in damp weather
- Stretchdry fabric is water- and windproof
- Merino wool lining is soft and manages perspiration
- Elasticized cuff secures the fit

A Commuter's Wet Dream
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: Medium
The temptation to drive into work is strong on those dark 50 degree rainy mornings. These socks give you one more argument to ride. I've worn waterproof socks in the past and have been unimpressed by their fit and lack of true waterproofness, but these actually work. When you pull them out of the package and slip them on they don't look like they're going to fit well but slip them into a shoe and go ride and the fit improves. Sealskinz sandwiches a waterproof membrane between layers in such a way that these definitely fit like a sock (kind of like a hiking sock). The top has a non-silicone gripper that keeps them in place and keeps water from dripping in.
My 7 mile commute give me just enough time to warm up and get soaked from road spray even in light rain. When I pulled these socks off at work, my feet 100% dry. I even wore these with Tevas and no water came through.
This model is thick enough to keep you warm when wet by not overly thick - I imagine I'd start sweating in 80 degree rain but that's to be expected. At 50 degrees my feet were just starting to get cold after 7 miles of constant spray in Tevas. The lining is merino to keep you comfortable and there are thicker versions available.
On sizing a size medium fit my US 9-9.5 feet well. If your feet are a 10, go with large, the toe to heel length will fit you better.
If you commute to work by bike you deserve a pair of these.
