Schwalbe Nobby Nic Tire - 27.5 Plus

Nic’s been lifting.

Already one of the most trusted names in tire-dom, Schwalbe’s Nobby Nic is back and better—or, more accurately, bigger—than ever. Blown up to an even grippier 27.5+ size, the more expansive Nic retains its large square knobs which, when paired with the super-low pressures allowed by a tubeless setup, serve up more grip than you’ll know what to do with. TrailStar triple-compound rubber is on the softer end of the spectrum (PaceStar is its slightly firmer big brother) so you’ll stick to the trail like a starfish to a tidal rock, handle off-camber corners better than a starfish could, and crush the wettest root lattices out there. And it’s doubtful that a starfish would even know where to start on that. Nic’s SnakeSkin sidewall takes the hits the trail dishes out, so you don’t have to check your speed just because you’re rolling on plus-sized rubber.

Grip like velcro, durability issues

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These things grip, and grip well. Really unbelievable the traction you can get. I had them set up on my bike and ripped a sidewall through a moderate rock garden I had ridden a dozen times on a standard tired bike with no issues. Sidewalls need to be a bit beefier.

So Far So Good!

I'm only about 5 rides on these Plus sized tires, and the jury is still out. The cornering and climbing grip is unbelievable. But it is definitely more rubber to pedal up a hill, and they react strangely in slow moving rock gardens. Definitely not great for every type of riding, but I am enjoying them so far

Good level of Fatty

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

For a semi fat bike you don't really need a nobby tire because there is already plenty of added grip with the extra width. But why not just go big? You want to be as grippy as possible right? big nobbs. big tires. big fun.

Unanswered Question

Is there a recommended minimum internal wheel width to run these?

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These semi fatty roll through almost anything. I fell like a little kid again rolling with these bad boys.

Nobby nic plus rock

Replaced 2.8 trailblazers as they sucked in wet conditions with nobby nic 2.8s couldn't be happier. Grip on everything, light and easy tubeless setup.
