The original mountaineer.

The Scarpa Men's Primitive Boot is the splitting image of the first leather boots used to mountaineer in the old days, except its far more suitable for modern cities than icy summits. The leather upper has a sophisticated sheen to it, and the smooth leather lining helps your foot slide in nicely. Vibram's Piuma sole certainly keeps the traction worthy of dirty trails if you ever come across one during your urban adventures.

Well made lightweight throwback boot

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Simple lightweight boot with a throwback to early hiking boots aesthetic and matching conformability. Get them if you're looking for a nice conformable boot for around town and in the woods, definitely not akin to what's expected of a 'true' hiking boot these days, but would rock on and off the trail still. The uppers are soft and pliable and the full leather construction will break in kindly and quickly over time. Despite other comments, I can confirm these are leather through and through, albeit with a slightly different tanning process. Finding them very comfortable and a simple basic style. Reading these as part of Scarpa's foray into working on updating their solid line of exceptional footwear, but experimenting with how the market will accept it's style variations.
