Awesome approach+hiking shoes
Awesome approach shoes. I've climbed up to 5.7+ on gear and 5.9 on bolts in these and I've done several ~10ish mile hikes with no hot spots/blisters.

Initial Impressions:
Of a similarly high build quality and price as my previous Zen Pros. Both are made at Scarpa's Romanian facility. I would say that these are slightly slimmer and significantly lighter. My size 47 (13US) Zen Pros weighted 42oz for the pair, while the Mescalitos in the same size are 37oz. For reference, my 5.10 guide tennies (RIP) were 36oz and my Chinese made Scarpa Epics are 35.5oz. The weight feels right for a tough shoe, while the Zens felt a bit heavy. Overall I would call these a lighter, slightly more precise version of the Zen. Those two qualities were my only conceivable improvements to the Zen, well done.
The fit is spot on with other Scarpas, a testament to their quality control. If you've worn the brand, confidently order your size.
Scarpa makes great footwear and I am always happy to recommend them, but would rather not be a walking billboard! What is with the styling on the outside rand? Something more subtle like the shoe on the left might be more palatable. Otherwise they are a fine looking shoe.
