Climb with the grace of a conductor.

Scarpa's Maestro Climbing Shoe performs with the grace that a maestro performs in front of a band. Made for vertical face climbing on small holds and to be worn all day on multipitch climbs, the Maestro offers the support and comfort you would expect. Vibram XS Edge rubber holds traction on small dime sized edges holding your weight as you work the crux sections of a route. Eco-leather form fits to your foot once broken in and is supportive and comfortable to wear, making them ideal for long days on the wall.

  • A high performance shoe for multi-pitch vertical routes
  • Flat profile ensures comfort on longer climbs
  • New IPC-Tension rand increases foot support to be worn all day
  • Vibram XS Edge rubber is secure on small holds when run out on lead
  • Eco-leather upper adds supportive, comfortable durability

Runs Small

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: 43

I wear an 8 / 8.5 in shoes. I settled on a 43 in these (size 10). I should also say that I'm old and don't accept foot ache anymore. These are still tight but not crushing.

Not so flat, Scarpa!

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 42.5

For size reference, I measure 9.5 D on the Brannock, and my foot is medium volume, slightly high arch. Nike running shoes fit me perfectly in size 10. Scarpa Crux, Vapor Lace, and La Sportiva TC Pro (with a light sock) fit fine in 42.5. That is the size I tried in the Maestro. The toe box is tall and roomy, and the forefoot feels relatively wide. The other end of the shoe has a bulbous, voluminous heel pocket and a high slingshot rand reminiscent of many Five Ten models.
Excellent construction and attention to detail, as you would expect from Scarpa, and the designer obviously intended the shoe to be used in cracks. The lacing plackets start with two pair of narrow webbing loops instead of eyelets to better protect this part of the laces in medium sized jams. Also, the toe has an additional rubber overlay above the rand for added stick in narrower jams. Nice.
I bought this shoe hoping for a slightly sportier but still comfortable version of the La Sportiva Mythos. The Maestros that I received are a disappointment in two ways. First, this is not a flat profile shoe. It is more downturned than the Vapor Lace and approaches in this respect the Instinct VS. Downturn for me is a nice feature on overhanging terrain but less so - and less comfortable - on vert, and useless on slab. Second, although the fit in front is good, in the heel there is quite a bit of dead space between my heel bone and the heel of the shoe. As the shoe breaks in, I suspect this will result in a loose to sloppy fit. I am not sure that I could size down as my toes are already slightly curled. For the time being the Vapor Lace seems like a better, more versatile combination of performance and comfort.

Small Tear After One Climb

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These shoes are nothing short of freaking incredible. On every move, every time, I stick to the wall, feel super secure, and have way more control on tiny holds. The only thing holding back a 5 star score is that after one climb I got a small tear along the top seam of the rubber on both shoes, which is a little infuriating after spending a ton, but from what I can tell it's not affecting the climb and not ripping more, so I'm gonna keep them. Bum about that seam quality, but honestly, will still buy these again once they wear out because man. So good.

Super comfy shoe

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Took these shoes out for a romp up some granite cracks today and they felt very stable and secure underfoot. I will definitely be keeping these in the fleet.

Amazing Edgers

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought these recently to upgrade from my old Scarpa Vs. I primarily climb vertical or slightly overhung walls and these let you comfortably edge on anything - if you can see it, you can stand on it. These shoes are slightly downturned which helps you apply power, but also keeps them super comfortable. The sole is stiff enough that on very overhung routes you may have trouble gripping though. I wear a size 14 street shoe, but I have a skinny feet, so I wear a 47 in these.

Fantastic boot!

Absolutely love these! They are truly an all around performer. The rubber is sticky and sensitive, but also edges nicely.
