Arpia Climbing Shoe

Scarpa is proud to introduce the newest member of its collection of climbing shoes. The Arpia Climbing Shoe is the perfect next step from beginner climbing shoes. Beginning climbing shoes generally have flatter profiles to stay comfy while folks learn how to climb, and more advanced climbing shoes are uncomfortably downturned to crank up performance. The Arpia has a slight downturn to slightly increase your performance potential, except it still maintains enough comfort to keep you thinking about the climb instead of your crooked toes.

The Arpia has an snug fit similar to slippers, with the exception of the single z-strap closure for quick-and-easy adjustments. Scarpa made it with a microsuede upper that stretches to conform to your foot shape, and there's a soft-touch backing so your foot can easily slip in. Vibram's XS Grip 2 gives this shoe's sole some of the best traction in the climbing community.

A great all around shoe

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I bought these as my first pair of semi-aggressive shoes. It’s amazing how much confidence I got immediately from wearing these shoes. I trusted my feet so much more. They’re stiff and support my feet well, but you can still smear with them. They stick to the wall so well on small holds. I got these when they were half off so I ended up getting a pair for the gym and a pair for out at the crag. They are showing a bit of wear after one season of wearing them outside, but I climb on sandstone so that’s to be expected. I still feel they’ll last me a for a while longer though. As for sizing, my street shoe size is a 9, but I bought 40s for the gym and 40.5s for outside so they’re more comfortable for longer routes and I can wear socks if needed. After a break-in period they fit well.

Pleasantly Surprising

I remember reading lots of reviews from folks who hated this shoe. I got them anyway because I’ve loved Scarpa and I like the Velcro style and they were a perfect intermediate shoe for the price. I figured I’d get a few good months out of them and move on to something else. Here I am almost two years down the line and these are the only shoes I wear anymore. I stinking love these things. These Arpias are SO underrated.

Great intermediate climbing shoes

Familiarity:

I have been climbing in the gym for about 2 years now. These run a good compromise between comfort and precision. I have worn the Miura, Skwama, Veloce. Each has its pros and cons. The Arpia may be my favorite. The synthetic material does not stretch but once they get stinky ... Oh, and I wear my climbing shoes the same size as street shoes. The Arpia is one of the least uncomfortable.

Awesome!!!!

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I am a size 11 street shoe and size 10 climbing shoe (US sizes, usually, sometimes 9.5) and I got size 43 which correlates to size 10 in US sizes. They fit like a glove!!! absolutely no dead space and actually not that uncomfortable for an aggressive (relative to my old shoes) fitting shoe. Although I could see how may start to hurt after wearing for an hour or two, but hey, they're climbing shoes they're not supposed to be very comfy! I am going out to the crag tomorrow to really put them to the test but I just had a quick session on the home-wall wearing my new Apria's because I couldn't resist and they felt AMAZING! Rubber is so sticky and I can feel my feet so much better than my old pair of shoes! Edging on my 45 degree wall has never been easier its like the foot holds magically got bigger haha, definitely recommend these for someone look to get into some more aggressive climbing shoes as these are my first aggressive (relatively) pair. The shoe also seems to be well designed with longevity in mind which is nice, very happy with my purchase overall. :)
