The Santa Cruz Stigmata Carbon CC Force CX1 ENVE Complete Cyclocross Bike earns the lofty reputation as a versatile adventure machine that doubles as a dreamy cyclocross race bike. While some Stigmata builds clearly favor the adventure side of the spectrum, this particular Force CX1 ENVE Complete Build skews towards 'cross racing with its simplified Force CX1 drivetrain paired with the snappy and stiff acceleration of ENVE m50/50 wheels. Even though it's kitted out for 'cross domination, you'll find the Stigmata Carbon CC Force CX1 ENVE build maintains versatility for gravel grinds down country roads and exploration along light-duty singletrack winding through the forest and mountains.
This particular version of the Stigmata enjoys the feathery-light efficiency of Santa Cruz's Carbon CC frame, which shaves weight with its higher modulus carbon lay-up—all while maintaining the stiffness and strength needed for quick acceleration bursts on 'cross courses and long grinds on gravel roads alike. You'll find the top-tier Carbon CC frame is approximately 280 grams lighter than the Carbon C frame, which gives you a leg up on the competition when saving every gram is absolutely crucial on race day.
Modern geometry places the Stigmata Carbon CC in solid contention with the current crop of high-end 'cross bikes dominating the market. The 72-degree head tube angle, 73.5-degree seat tube angle (based on 56-centimeter frame), and 69-millimeter bottom bracket drop fall neatly between Euro-'cross high and road-racing low, making it a great contender for American-style cyclocross. And even with its racy geometry cues, the Stigmata's geometry extends its versatility beyond the 'cross course. In fact, it's just as confident and composed grinding down gravel roads and exploring light-duty singletrack. We chalk this up to its ability to clear 40-millimeter tires providing extra bump compliance, paired with the incredibly stiff and precise Stigmata CC Cyclocross fork.
SRAM's Force CX1 drivetrain simplifies the shifting experience by ditching the double ring set-up for a 42-tooth chainring paired with an 11 to 36-tooth cassette for all the gearing you'll need for steep pitches, fast grassways, and sloggy sand pits. Force hydraulic disc brakes are exceptionally powerful for quick stopping when you're coming in hot around tight corners on the racecourse and downhill sections of dirt. The icing on the proverbial cake comes in the form of ENVE's m50/50 carbon wheels, which make this Stigmata Carbon CC all the more snappy and responsive the instant you step on the gas. These stiff and strong wheels are laced to DT Swiss 350 hubs for reliability in notoriously mucky conditions known to 'cross racing and gravel grinding.
Thru-axles along the front and rear maintain stiff and precise tracking over rough ground and rutted-out courses. Furthermore, the ability to accept 140 and 160-millimeter disc rotors give you the ability to maintain forceful stopping power in all conditions. Internal cable routing keeps things tidy and cables free from flinging muck. And for riders concerned with their frame being futureproof, the Stigmata runs both mechanical and electronic drivetrains for relevancy in the ever-shifting marketplace.
