The Salomon Women's X Ultra 3 Mid GTX Wide Hiking Boot offers the same lightweight support on rugged trails as the regular version, but in a slightly wider fit. At a little over 14 ounces it won't weigh us down, but also doesn’t sacrifice weight for durability and lasting comfort. Its Contagrip sole provides dependable traction on rough trails, while the EVA midsole and Ortholite footbed reduce shock and thus minimize foot fatigue. Salomon's Advanced Chassis ensures we have lateral support on uneven terrain, and the Sensifit liner keeps our foot comfortably cradled as we pick our way through boulder fields or loose scree.

An absolute NO with this midrise Salomon
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
I've worn Salomon's Quest Gore-Tex hiking boots for 6 straight years and needed a new pair. I thought I'd try this different, midheight boot because it boasted a wide foot bed, lighter weight and same durability. I loved the color, the width, the sole traction, but once I tried lacing these boots I realized the midrise height offered nothing but frustration for me. The tongue of the boot is floppy and won't stay positioned, the top lacing grommets were too far set back, the laces too short for proper tying and double-knotting and the midrise height doesn't allow enough stability for a day of long, high hills. I'm sending these back and I'm buying the Salomon Quest 4 Gore-Tex boots instead.

Glue
Love the color and perfect size. I’m usually a size 9 but ordered 9.5 and they fit perfectly. The only thing that upset me was that there was glue from the factory stuck on top of the shoe. It doesn’t look like I am able to remove it at all. Very upset paying this much for some hiking boots only for them to have a big glob of glue right on top.

Perfect for backpacking!
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
Looking for a more supportive hiking boot that holds up? The SalomonX Ultra is excellent! I've put a ton of miles on these already and despite not breaking them in well, I have had zero issues with blisters. They dry quickly when drenched after crossing through rivers and have excellent grip. I'm looking forward to putting more miles on these!

Great Shoe

I usually wear a size 8.5 wide hiking boot. My shoe size originally 8 wide but my arch is falling and I experience pain in my toes. This boot is wide and very comfortable. I ended up returning the 8.5W for a 9W because the shoe was too short. The 9W fits great and is comfortable for flat trekking and is really water resistant. Great look and color. The sole is not ridged enough for mountain summiting. I would definitely recommend for an overall great wearing boot.
