Salomon X Ultra 2 Hiking Shoe - Women's
SalomonX Ultra 2 Hiking Shoe - Women's

All-Ultra everything.

Sometimes hiking is about getting up, checking the view, and getting back down before the storm hits. When that's the plan, the Salomon X Ultra 2 Women's Hiking Shoe is the kick you want. At 11 ounces, it won't slow you down, but it doesn't sacrifice comfort, grip, or durability to keep things light. The Contagrip sole is plenty burly, while the injected EVA midsole, molded shank, and EVA footbed provide all the cushion you'll need to handle rough and rocky trails. Salomon's Advanced Chassis serves up plenty of stability and support for climbs and descents, and the Sensifit construction and Ortholite sockline cradle your foot in a supportive and loving embrace. As a final touch, the X Ultra's Quick Lace system makes sure the breathable upper hugs your toes comfortably and ensures that you won't have to deal with untied laces or slop.

Easiest low hiker.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is my second pair and it was wonderful right out of the box (as was the first pair). No breaking in. I got the non-gortex version as in Florida some trails are underwater. I spend my summers peakbagging north (Adirondacks) and west (Wasatch) and these shoes have proven sturdy, stable and grippy. The only downside is the laces loosen about halfway into the hike, needing to be retightened.

Best hiking shoe ever

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs large

I've been all over and tried out most brands on the trail, but nothing compares with the salomon x ultra. I bought 3 pairs I love them so much. They are great on slippery rock, lightweight, comfortable for my narrow feet, and never need any break-in time. They run pretty huge, definitely go down 0.5-1.0 sizes under your usual. I got a size 8.5 and that's compared to my Brooks running shoe (size 10).

Great shoe for hiking

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: 7

These were great from the moment I put them on. They do run about half size large (I'm usually 7.5, ordered 7 based on other reviews). I've worn them on gravel trails, dirt, shale, and rocks, and they hold on to all surfaces. They are not too heavy or bulky like some other hiking shoes and I have comfortably worn them 5-7 miles each time with no blisters. My one comment would be that the toe box is a little wide for me and even with thick socks, my toes creep down when going downhill and end up a little sore at the end of the hike.

Perfect for a newbie!

Mom loves it

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: Runs large

Gave this as a gift to my mother and she absolutely adores these shoes. She loves how agile and light weight they are. Being a tiny asian woman, weight matters and these things absolutely deliver. Construction seems up to par with all of solomon shoes, awesome. As far as size is concerned, my mother wears a size 7 and the 7 seems to be working out for her. Maybe consider sizing down if you are on the cusp of 2 sizes.

Too big

  • Fit: Runs large

These are cute shoes, they look like they do in the photo. Only thing is they run very large! I am usually 9.5 or 10. I ordered the 9.5 and I would think they were a size 11. I am going to maybe order a size 8.5 or 9 and see if that fits better.
