Runs Large
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
I had to return these before I could use them because they run larger than the version from a few years ago. I usually wear a 7.5 and I'll have to order a 7. Obviously I love them since I'm replacing them with the exact same shoe.
Best trail running shoe out there!
- Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
I bought these as a gift for my mother, however, i have a a pair as well and honestly love them so much i wanted to give these to her as a gift. They are SUPER comfy, have amazing cushioning. The traction is obviously another plus. I love days when i can get outside and run with these. The only down side is my mother has wide feet and i cant seem to find a size that would fit that without have it be too long. However, i sized a half size up for her in hopes it may over time widen to her feet. She hasn't complained so i am guessing it worked out. Overall i love these shoes!
Always a Favorite!
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
These Salomon's are so awesome. The only thing is that I wish the soles lasted longer. The black ones look great in person!
Great shoe
Highly recommend. I hike a lot and these feel snug on my foot without being heavy or pinching my toes. Would buy them again for sure!
Your new favorite trail running shoe
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
Love these shoes more than I love my cat, (or any cat for that matter). They are comfortable and sturdy, give me no hot spots, fit great and feel better! I'm an 8 1/2 shoe and wear a 9 to trail run in these babies. They got me started on simple trail running - flat, slightly rocky trails - and then followed me to the Snowbird Cirque series - a high intensity trail race.
I recommend these to beginners and advance trail runners.
Tackling Technical Terrain? No Problem.
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
The first pair of Speedcrosses I purchased were from an REI garage sale (in brand new condition, 2 years ago). After attempting a couple trail runs in them, I decided to use them solely (pun intended) for scrambles and approaches. They served me well. I've used them on countless 14ers in Colorado and technical peaks in Glacier National Park. The large lugs are perfect for technical terrain, they are comfortable (even over long distances), and the QuickLace system makes them extremely easy to size in a pinch. They also hold up incredibly well over time, I retired mine (after 2 hard years) only recently. I know many other people that trumpet them as their go-to minimalist hiker. Recently, I purchased my second pair and have been experimenting with using them as a trail runner again. I've found they are great for steep downhills and may end up using them for the Rut Mountain 50k next year. My only complaint is that the toe box is a bit narrow for my liking.
Sizing: A bit large, I wear size 8 (just like the S-Lab Sense 6) -- This might be personal preference
Meanwhile, Nike Kigers and Wildhorses, La Sportiva Lycans and Mutants, Hokas: size 8.5
Best hiking shoe for everyone!

This shoe can conquer anything with the best comfort and durability no matter where you go in nature!

There's a reason you see these shoes everywhere––they're rugged, comfortable, and versatile for outdoor fun in the mountains. My wife picked up a pair of these for trail running, but found they make a better hiking and approach shoe for her.
She has fairly flat, medium-width, low-volume feet and said the toe box is WAY too narrow to spread/engage the forefoot, the high arch-support at the midfoot can can cause blistering, and the drop of the shoe is tough on her knees when it comes to running more than a mile or so on trails or pavement.
However, when she's camping, hiking to crags, or on climbing trips, she LOVES the burly tread, easy on/off thanks to the QuickLace system, and the stability/precision provided by the rock plate and toe. They're a staple in her gear closet, but she'd recommend checking out brands like Saucony or Brooks for those with similar feet. She wears a W's 8.5/9 in street shoes, and a 9/9.5 in these––size up at least a half size in these for hiking, or perhaps a full size for running.
Feels like you're walking on clouds!

Got these as a gift for a friend and she's in love with them. In her words "The shoes are incredibly comfortable. They feel like you're walking on clouds and the traction is great. They have a lot of arch support. As far as running/hiking in them goes they are best on rock and dirt. They don't belong on cement due to the build of their sole. I wore them running on a wet over grown trail and my socks did get when after a while, this is expected. Well worth the money and I can tell that they will last." There ya heard it. Get yourself a pair.
The Go To Trail Runners
- Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
Bought these for my Mom for Christmas, and she absolutely loves them. My Mom trail runs in miscellaneous places across the Southwest, and she now refuses to go with any other shoe than these. The DWR coating makes these water resistant, and the quick lace system is really convenient as well. But her favorite thing about the shoes was the traction and the comfort. They are not the widest shoe, but her foot is definitely on the wider side, and these still work great for her. Since being gifted these, she has purchased 2 more pairs. That's how much she likes them.
GAME CHANGER!
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
I absolutely love this shoe! It's comfortable, lightweight, and gives you an excellent grip on whatever terrain you're on! I've worn these mountain biking, trail running, and submitting two 14er's. I wear a size 9 and usually have pain in my arch after hiking but not with these babies. Totally worth it!
Great shoes

These are the best trail runners I have had. They are grippy enough for rocky trails but are also comfortable on flat, even terrain. The shoes are also cool in the summer months and very breathable. All around great shoe for running, backpacking, etc.
Excellent shoe

I love running in these shoes. They fit my foot perfectly. I did have to add an insole for arch support, but maybe that is just my scoliosis talkin?? The quick lace is a great feature! I also love how breathable these shoes are.

I got a pair for my fiancé, and she loves them! This is her second pair (first were goretex) and these are great for warmer weather. Perfect fit and great support! True to size.
Salomon trail runners never disappoint
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
This is my fourth pair of Salomon shoes. I love them as they are true to fit, grippy, great support and never needs a "break-in" period. I use them for hiking on trails and rocky terrain. I also wear them on the golf course as they are more comfortable than golf shoes, but still have good traction. My winter hikers (water proof) are my go to shoes heading up to the ski slopes, running errands in the snow and playing winter golf. I've never been disappointed in Salomon shoes and I've had foot issues off and on for several years (morton's neuroma, foot surgery for the big toe joint). Hikes are limited to 10-12 miles max
Favorite trail runners!

I have owned several pairs of these and worn them till they fell apart (takes awhile). This year I got my friend a pair for her birthday right before we went on a hiking and canyoneering trip to Escalante, Utah. She had always used regular tennis shoes before and was amazed at how lightweight and grippy these shoes were. Here is a pic of both of us, in our Salomon speedcross on the way to Zebra Slot Canyon
Grip And Lightweight Protection
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
If you're looking for grip, look to the Speedcross 4. As a Salomon employee, these are a staple in my quiver of shoes, in both GTX and non-GTX models. The Speedcross provide enough grip to give me confidence on the slippery mud, and are the perfect fit for shoulder season.
Can't go wrong with these shoes!

Salomon does it again! The traction and fit is great. I have a low volume foot and it fits just right. I also really like the Quicklace feature. It makes tying your shoes a breeze and I never have to worry about tripping over the laces. They're great.
Yes
Love!!
Wife Loves Them
- Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
Purchased these for my wife and she's in them 24/7. She's worn the speedcross for years now and can't get enough of them. The colors are great, the quality is top-notch, and they are the best trail runners money can buy. She ran an off the couch marathon in these things (not recommended), and didn't finish with broken feet! Overall, I highly recommend them.
