Super 8 Snowboard

There are few boards equipped to handle Josh Dirksen's authoritative, all-mountain riding style, and the Salomon Super 8 Snowboard has been tested and proven as just the right tool for the job. This high-powered quiver-killer uses Backseat Camber, which has camber under the back foot for explosive turning power, and is flat under the front foot to keep it playful in powder, enabling you to thrive in every zone on the mountain.

Rocket Science Shaping lends the Super 8 extra width for increased stability and float, allowing  you to downsize a few centimeters for quick-turning agility and confident stability when you're threading through tight trees and pointing narrow chutes. The board's Popster core lives up to its name by delivering powerful pop and response, as well as high levels of impact-resistance when you get bitten by a hidden snow shark. Ghost Basalt Stringers give you some serious snap, while Royal Rubber Pads in the sidewalls dampen the board from the choppy, busted-up conditions that occur towards the end of a powder day. Salomon also added in the smooth edge-to-edge feel of a quadratic sidecut, and fast glide of a sintered base for crushing high-speed laps all over with tons of control.

  • Team favorite for turning the whole mountain into a playground
  • Backseat Camber maximizes control on groomers, and surfs in pow
  • Slight tapering sinks tail and lifts nose for planing in deep snow
  • Extra width adds float and stability, and lets you size down
  • Ghost baslat stringers and Popster core ensure powerful snap
  • Quadratic sidecut provides reliable edgehold and easy turning
  • Royal Rubber Pads in sidewall absorb harsh chatter at high speeds
  • Sintered base keeps you at the head of the pack

Awesome board!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I got this for my boyfriend because his old board was rusting apart. He loves it! It rides like a dream! I can't keep up anymore 😭

We've rode on powder and icy groomers and handles great on both.

Thanks for helping us find the perfect board, Nate (our gear head)!

Awesome board!

happy to pull the trigger!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I only recently moved to SLC and joined the Back country community. Before this winter I have been living in Bellingham, WA and my local hill was MT Baker - hands down my favorite resort EVER! Anywho - the biggest event on the calendar at baker is the Banked Slalom. Every year my snowboarding heroes would show up on the hill and we would all vie for glory in the turns. My winning streak has yet to materialize but it is always a fun event and such a fun time watching the legends of our sport rip down the course and around the mountain. A few seasons ago I saw Josh Dirksen and Nils Mindich crushing a a cool looking board. That board was the Super 8 and watching the speed and style they used to carve through the course had me very intrigued and on the hunt for something would carve everything. Pumped to say I finally pulled the trigger.
The board looks great, has a cool directional shape that is still capable of 180', and shreds!
Happy euro carving kiddos.

Perfection!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is my third season on the super 8. It is faultless. It is a quick turning surfy board that has great edge hold and stability at any speed. Precise, yet floaty and fun. It is even locked in charging groomers. Where everyone else puckers you can take 3 quick edge turns and slice the perfect line through no fall zones in rhythm. Im 6’5” and 210 w sz 12 boots and the 160 can do everything. Backseat camber is my fave boardshape ever, and been snow riding and surfing for almost 30 years. Can’t wait to try the split with this shape! Ridden mostly at Snowbird, Solitude, and Brighton.

Perfection!

A Classic

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This thing shreds. Given the list of Riders (including Dirksen) who ride this board, there is no suprise it's such a great ride. Awesome graphic too!!
