Salomon S-Lab X Alp Pro Gore-Tex Pant - Men's

Built for icy mountain tops.

Built for alpine ascents and days spent touring in the backcountry, the Salomon Men's S-Lab X Alp Pro Gore-Tex Pants ensure maximum protection and minimal weight through all of your mountainous adventures. Meeting the tumultuous demands of high-mountain weather, these pants are equipped with a bonded Gore-Tex Pro membrane to deliver total waterproof, breathable protection and maximum durability against the most severe conditions.

MotionFit technology delivers the ultimate freedom of movement through articulated knees, a gusseted crotch for non-chafing performance, and an adjustable waist belt for just the right fit every time you step through the door. Ankle gaiters help seal out snow from sneaking in where it doesn't belong, while a zipped leg opening offers a looser cuff to fit around bulkier boots. Throw your phone, wallet, keys, and snacks in any of the multiple pockets before embarking on your ascent.

The material is super comfortable, flexible and high quality. They do not restrict movement but are reasonably form fitting at the same time.Extremely happy with these ski pants.

I've had several long ski days and tours in the S-Lab Pro pant and jacket. I either wear the Dynafit Beast pant and jacket or my Salomon X Alp kit. I prefer a thinner, very lightweight fabric when touring. I also prefer to have full length zippers on the legs to dump heat quickly. (Both have leg zips) That being said, both outfits are about as thin and breathable as garments get. I'd say the Salomon fabric is a little more durable but still very thin. Don't let that scare you though the construction is very good. The Gore Tex Pro fabric is very, very breathable and yet still protects you from the cold wind, snow and the elements.
If you're looking for a really loose fit, baggy style, this pant and jacket are more of what I call an athletic fit. I am 6'2, 180 lbs. I have long arms, long torso and the XL jacket fits perfect! I am a true 34 waist and 32 inseam. The pant waist fits perfect, leg length is good as well. My only issues with the jacket is it doesn't have pit zips, which is fine because the jacket breaths really well. My only issue with the pant is the internal belt instead of belt loops. I personally like belt loops because I carry a tool on my belt. The locking device on the buckle doesn't stay very tight so I'm pulling my pants up once and a while. (maybe suspenders?) I wear a pretty heavy pack most of the time.
I gave the pant 4 stars just because of the internal belt. If the pant had belt loops I would have easily given them 5 stars. Overall, I'm very pleased with the outfit and it should see many more seasons and tours. It's proven Salomon is no slouch when it comes to technical ski touring gear.

Great review and picture Brendan! Your sizing breakdown compared to Dynafit is super useful.

Do these pants have loops for suspenders?
