Great For Mountain-Goating

These are some burly shoes for hitting boulder-strewn, muddy trails. My first hike in these was the Bell's Canyon waterfall hike in SLC and these kept me on my feet despite the trail being a rock scramble up top, with slick roots, and very steep downhills. I'm notoriously slow on the downhill (mostly because I generally opt for light trail running shoes for hiking), but with these shoes, I felt so secure on the trail. If you're looking for a comfortable, durable, really bad-ass looking hiking boot, these are your jam.

Comfy, Fast, Breathable + WATERPROOF

It was hard for me to believe that a hiking shoe could be everything: comfortable, "fast," breathable, AND waterproof?! As a gear-tester and avid splitboarder AND hiker, doubt is important. Believing a brand's claims can get one into hot water (no pun intended) when marketing leads product. HOWEVER. And this is a big however. After slogging through deep mud, snow-mud slush, hot pow, and even dry dirt (the "fast" stuff!) between the desert of Utah to the alpine of the San Juans of Colorado, my mind has been changed. I never imagined that one day, a girl could slog up a muddy wet road for 3 miles to ski hot pow and still have dry feet for the day. Thank you, Salomon, for making my dreams come true. This is exactly what a girl wants.
