Climb up, ski down, repeat.
You prefer the easiest way up as well as the easiest way down, which is why your favorite mountaineering missions involve climbing the most direct path to the summit, as well as riding two planks back to the car. Salewa designed and certified the Vert Helmet for skiing and climbing, so you can live up to your preferences. The Vert's technical padding dissipates heat when you work up a sweat on the ascent, and keeps your cool on the descent, or you can remove the ear pieces for a traditional look. The most unique feature has to be Salewals anti-fog system, which circulates air through your own goggles so you don't lose visuals on sweaty descents.
- Certified for skiing and snowboarding

Great for Touring/Ski Mountaineering
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Being a long time Salewa fanboy, I just had to get this helmet since I lacked a helmet for skiing. In short, Salewa delivered.
Fit/Comfort: for my medium/large head with a circumference of 60cm, the L/XL size is a perfect fit. The thin liner is removable but the earmuffs are NOT removable. Not a huge deal since the helmet is well ventilated. I can usually leave the helmet on my head all day without any discomfort, which can't be said for my climbing helmet (BD Half Dome). The helmet also does a fantastic job at regulating temperatures, I never felt too hot or too cold in them, even when temps were in the single digits.
Function: I put about 30 days of skiing (both on and off-piste) in this helmet so far and it has performed flawlessly. Only thing is I haven't suffered any catastrophic crashes or yardsales so it's hard to comment on the protection the helmet offers. The chin strap has a magnetic buckle that's easy to operate once you get the hang of it. Definitely well designed, I never had it disengage by accident while skiing.
Durability: only area that's preventing me from giving it a 5-star review. The retention clips for headlamp/action cam strap on the front of the helmet are not the strongest in the world. One of them broke after moderate use but nothing some epoxy can't fix. Other than that, the rest of the helmet is pretty bulletproof.
Aesthetics: I got the black version and it looks super sharp with the yellow accents.
Conclusion: a nice addition to my collection of Salewa gear. There are definitely better skiing helmet out there but I like how the Vert is certified for both climbing and skiing. It's perfect for those backcountry missions where climbing is involved; although it's suitable for resort skiing as well. It's a well designed and well executed product and quality is evident when you first hold the helmet in your hands. Highly recommend.
FWIW, I just got this helmet and the earmuffs are definitely removeable. Just pulled them off and put them back on no problem when I pulled it out of the box and tried it on.
You are absolutely right! Just tried again and it came off haha. It wasn't written in the manual and I was afraid to break it initially I guess.
