Professionals need more space and lighter gear.

The Sierra Leone Pro II Tent is the professional model to Salewa's spacious shelter with the same name (minus the whole "pro" part). Updates to the non-professional model include an extra vestibule because pros generally have twice the gear than amateurs, and if you don't have a pro-level rack of mountaineering gear, then the second vestibule can double as a cooking area in rainy weather. Despite have a lot more room, this Pro model is about two pounds lighter, since professionals generally have to backpack to more secluded territories to explore.

    • Salewa's spacious tent made lighter for professional adventurers
    • Waterproof floor and fly shield out the elements
    • Zippered mesh paneling and roll-up door ventilate warmer weather
    • Roll-up vestibules disappear when you don't need gear storage
    • Room divider give you and your roommate some privace
    • Included roll-top stuff sack, stakes, guylines, loft, and internal pockets

    Well made

Construction is high quality. Materials are very good. Zippers are smooth and fast.

The dimensions shown on Backcountry's listing are incorrect. The Salewa site shows more accurate, but still generous, dimensions. The floor is more like 81" x 48". My Long sleeping bag jams the inner tent head and foot. The headroom height of 41" is pretty accurate, and feels roomy sitting up because of the steep walls.

This tent does not come with a gear loft or privacy divider as described. The "Roll Out" vestibules do not have any way to secure them when rolled back. Keep in mind the method of entry is from the short ends.

I really like that this tent pitches the exterior first, so if it were raining the tent would stay dry. The inner tent can be detached via 18 ( or maybe I lost count) plastic clips and the exterior can be pitched without a footprint thanks to webbing strips across the bottom from pole to pole. This would make a very roomy shelter with no floor. The ventilation in the exterior tent is good. Two top vents operable from inside or out with mesh and stay-open props. The ventilation in the interior is very good. Large mesh windows in both front and rear doors. The solid wall on the doors is about 16" high which is high enough to keep direct drafts off of the face. The top of the doors are mesh. I've never seen tent zippers work as well as these.

The long pole sleeves are well made and heavy duty, but make removing the poles difficult. Since the shock cord extends the entire length of the pole,(something like 11' ) it stretches quite a lot if a pole separates during removal from the sleeve. .

I would change the shock cords to partial fixed cord and partial stretch cord.
I would add a pull out tab at the rear door to allow pulling a little more length for tall folks. Also I would add some tie-backs for the vestibules.
This is a very good quality, well made tent.
Total weight in the stuff bag is 5.8 lbs.
The outer tent with stakes, poles and stuff bags weighs 4.4 lbs
