Salewa Mountain Trainer GTX Hiking Shoe - Men's
SalewaMountain Trainer GTX Hiking Shoe - Men's

Solid performance from the car to summit.

The Salewa Men's Mountain Trainer GTX Hiking Shoe lives for ridgeline scrambles and fast ascents up exposed routes. Taking all the burly ingredients of Salewa's mountaineering boots and implementing them in a low-top hiking shoe, the Mountain Trainer delivers all the rigidity and support you'd expect from an alpine boot but in a more nimble design. The upper is composed of durable nubuck and is reinforced by a full-wrap rubber rand to protect against abrasive rock and scree. The 3F ankle support system locks your heel into place while still granting full mobility for increased comfort while you hike. The customizable multi-fit footbed allows you to dial in the perfect fit, and the durable Vibram sole will easily handle everything from packed trails on the approach to rock-strewn summit pushes.

Love Salewa

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

This is my second pair of Salewa's, opted for the more rugged version this time and the waterproofing is great. I spent 5 days in them right out of the box and the shoe provided plenty of support without the blisters. They also come with two footbed options which is great if you need less/more volume. Highly recommend!

Great Hikers

I bought these for a trip hiking around Andorra and Ireland. They offer excellent support and have solid tread for even the sketchiest of terrain. They keep your feet dry as well. Super happy with these so far.

I don't have freakishly narrow feet, so I finally settled on a pair of Salewa Mountaineering boots. I wanted something with a stiff sole, but not all the weight and bulk of a full boot.

After searching for hours just to find a few options to try on, and trying on a half dozen of those I settled on these bad boys:

They have a stiff sole (3/4 shank?) similar to a mountaineering boot but are comparatively featherlight. They're pretty waterproof and have great traction. Didn't have any problems with hot spots and worked great right out of the gate.

Only downside, is that they're so low profile, if you like to use superfeet inserts you probably will be slipping out of these. The sole is removable and I've found works quite well, but I couldn't seem to get even light superfeet in without my heel popping out.

I got size 10.5 and they fit me perfectly, and my shoe size runs between 10-11 generally, depending on shoe type.

Great All-Round Shoe

Versatile shoe in all sorts of terrain and weather with a nice GTX liner and comfortable sole The toe box is generous and fits true to size.

I was just wondering if the shoe size is in us sizing? I wear a 10.5 in all my asolo boots. Thanks

The sizes listed are in US sizing. I would recommend getting your street shoe size or even a half size down if you prefer a more precise fit for when things get technical.
