Setting the standard, once again.

RockShox took the mountain bike world by storm in 2013 with its release of the Pike RCT3 Fork, dethroning suspension titans in the aggressive trail and all-mountain categories with its stiff 35mm chassis paired with a fine-tunable Charger damper. For 2018, RockShox has revamped this iconic fork for the ever-evolving complexities of the mountain bike world, making the Pike RCT3 DebonAir 150 Boost 27.5in Fork compatible with 2.8-inch tires, as well as increasing tuning adjustments from its revised Charger 2 damper. Since BOOST axles are ubiquitous with modern builds, you'll find it's only found in this spacing to accommodate the higher volume tires (up to 2.8 inches) and stiffer BOOST wheels of modern mountain bikes.

Upon first glance, the new additions to the Pike RCT3 aren't overly noticeable, which is a good thing if you dig the sleek, stealthy aesthetics found on past models of this fork. However, looking with more detail, you'll find its lower legs are cut-out to reduce weight by approximately 20 grams while maintaining the legendary stiffness you've come to love from Pike Forks. Another update, the brake mounts only accommodate rotors in the range of 180 to 200 millimeters, seeing modern trail and all-mountain bikes are using larger rotors for increased stopping power.

You'll be pleasantly surprised to find its new Charger 2 damper unit retains the Open, Pedal, and Firm settings of the previous model, but with a wider range of low-speed compression adjust in Open mode, as well as re-tuned damping in Pedal mode for better support on long climbs and smooth-buffed trails. Firm mode gets an update as well, allowing for compatibility with RockShox OneLoc remotes. This is helpful if you're a competitive racer using RockShox rear shocks, as you can lock the front and rear out simultaneously to gain efficiency while sprinting for the finish or climbing up smooth trails. One more thing to note, the new Charger 2 damper gets a bleed port for easier servicing at home.

We'd be amiss to forget the addition of RockShox's DebonAir spring for 2018. This helpful update overhauls the previous Pike's SoloAir spring with extra negative air spring volume, thereby improving sensitivity to small bumps on the trail without sacrificing its support throughout the mid-stroke. Ultimately, the addition of DebonAir to already excellent fork makes it all the more sensitive when you're pedaling across root and rock-littered sections of trail, giving you heaps of traction on technical stretches of trail and rugged uphill sections.
