I purchased this beautiful softshell waterproof hooded jacket in the nightshade color, a gorgeous purple with excellent, high quality zippers and well placed, generous hand pockets for my wife. She loves this jacket and wears it often when it's raining and even when it's not if the air has a little chill in it. It's very well constructed and form flattering for a woman while being highly functional and delivering solidly on its promise to keep you absolutely dry. She pairs this piece with anything from t-shirts to light midlayers when battling anything from a slight chill to mid 40s Fahrenheit temperatures. The jacket material has an amazing texture with a distinct high quality look and softness. The versatility, actual utility, range of movement and aesthetics are hard to beat when paired with a good sale that is often found here. My wife often receives compliments on this Rab piece. If you are considering this piece and looking through reviews to make up your mind, I feel confident you won't regret this purchase and my wife gives it two thumbs up.

I don't know what voodoo magic this material is made of but whatever it is- it's AMAZING. I took this on a recent road trip to visit some friends and upon my arrival, it had started raining pretty badly. When I arrived at my destination though, my friends were having a dance party outside and they were all soaked! I threw this jacket on to join them and it was perfect. I stayed totally dry but the best part was that I could move around SO MUCH in this thing! It doesn't even make sense how this jacket works since it's a stretchy, softshell rain jacket but this was perfect for a night of busting a move in the middle of a rain storm :) My only "complaint" is that since this jacket has a helmet-compatible hood, the hood looks a little funky if you aren't wearing a helmet which is totally understandable though. If you hate the rigidity of traditional rain gear and need more stretch in your jacket for your rainy day activities- look no further than the Rab Kinetic Plus!

When I first saw this, I thought it was just a standard softshell. NOT SO. Instead, I was amazed (and a little skeptical) that it was a fully waterproof jacket complete with a nice fitting hood with bill.

It exceeded my expectations.

I used it on a week-long camping trip in the Utah desert. I was worried it wouldn't be that breathable..and it was a tad bit heavy for the heat (late May in the desert is pretty hot). BUT, there were a couple days when it was raining in Grand Staircase Escalante NM and the jacket worked perfectly. The water just brushed off the jacket and provided full coverage. I especially loved the cut of the jacket -- longer in the back to keep your back covered and slightly longer sleeve lengths with adjustable wrist cuffs.

Probably the best thing about this jacket, though, is the stretchy-ness of the material. I can wear it alone over the flannel or over my Patagonia nano puff, and it maintains its shape and still provides full range of motion. AND, it does not feel like you're wearing a garbage bag. It's amazing.

The one thing that I would like to see is the jacket being able to fold into its pocket like the patagonia houdini. It comes with small stuff sack, but at that point, you might as well just stuff it in your bag and not bother with the extra weight of the bag.
