Tell the wind to get lost.

A chilly descent will suck the power out of your muscles, but POC's AVIP Light Wind Vest will help keep your core warm so your engine will be ready to kick into gear when you hit the flats. This lightweight, 57-gram vest uses a full polyamide construction to block wind, but employs mesh side panels that will help you stay cool if you're pedaling hard and don't have time to change layers. A DWR treatment sheds light precipitation, hem elastic improves fit and reduces drag, and the reflective rear logo helps keep you visible when you're riding home at twilight.

  • A light vest for keeping a toasty core
  • Polyamide construction blocks wind
  • Mesh panels allow sweat to escape
  • Slim fit with elastic hem reduces drag
  • Featherweight construction is easy to pack in pocket
  • Stay dry with DWR treatment that sheds light rain
  • Boost low-light visibility with reflective accents

Barely know it's on...

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

I was looking for a Blaze Orange vest that fit a lot more snug than what you'd find in a hunting store. This fits like a typical cycling wind vest and definitely alerts other seasonal trail users of your two wheeled presence. For reference, I'm 6"00 and 155 lbs, and a medium fits nice and snug.

Works well for me

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: small

The material has some slight stretch so it fits close and doesn't flap. It's a wind vest and does the job great and sheds light rain. It's got a long tail to cover the back side with a big reflective POC. I wore this riding around Cape Town, SA and unzipped on climbs and forgot it was there and then zipped up for the descents and it kept me warm. I've also worn this on runs and it preformed well for that activity too. It's thin, packs small and the orange is eye catching. I'd say that the full retail price is ridiculous but getting one on sale is worth it.

Ultra Light Weight

I cannot comment on the garment's performance, but wanted to write a review to potentially help those who are considering this purchase. Please do not take my star rating as a well-researched judgement. It's not. My rating is based on how well constructed and designed the vest is for what I'd assume is its intended use. When I buy something like this, a review from a person who rides a lot is useful. I'm not a pro, but I average about 130 miles a week.
This is obviously well-constructed. I would imagine this vest was intended to be sort of an emergency garment, as opposed to a go-to. As a super light-weight vest, it packs into way less than your fist. Like many garments this thin, the water repellancy is probably good to a point, both in terms of volume and longevity. That's the good news.
The bad: This is a 60 degree vest, at best. It is super delicate, with a tiny zipper, super-light fabric, and not a lot of H20 protection. As the picture shows, there is zero neck protection. I'd much rather wear a Castelli windstopper base layer than this, and definitely need something more substantial for our cooler temps in L.A. I won't knock this for its price, but for what you are getting this is in the Arc'reryx/Patagonia category of price/material/design ratio.
Final note: It is completely opaque, almost transparent. Your jersey is entirely visible through it, which is a look you better want.
