Drinking Tube Kit

Love your collapsible Platy Bottle? You'll love it even more when you turn it into a hydration system with the Drinking Tube Kit. We know how you feel about those great liquid transporters that pack down to nothing when empty, and this one will make your heart even fonder. The kit attaches easily to any Platypus reservoir, and comes with a bite valve and clip to keep it handy and drip-free.

  • Tube kit for easier access to your water
  • Bite valve won't drip or leak
  • Clip secures the tube in a convenient place
  • Compatible with all Platypus reservoirs

It works

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

No complaints works as expected. This is really goo it you are using a gravity filter to fill platypus bags as there is no need to pour or bring along a separate camelback bladder!

I bought two of these for easier hydration on the water and they work great. Solid construction and easy to use, no complaints at all

Does the trick

Nice addition to the Platypus system. Takes full advantage of the platypus softbottles rather than having them hidden away in your backpack.

Get the shut-off valve and valve cover.

This helps me stay hydrated, since it's a lot easier to randomly drink water on a hike when the tube is bouncing around in front of me. However, the valve picks up dirt really easily, and the dirt is hard to wipe off because of the grippy material. Also, whenever you set your pack down, the valve WILL get dumped into the dirt. I made the mistake of keeping this in my tent (I use my water bladder to insulate my feet), and if the valve is even compressed a bit, water starts to leak out. Hence, get the valve cover (which is annoying to put on, and I don't understand why it doesn't come standard with this...) and the shutoff valve. Also, it took me a bit to figure out how to draw a good flow of water from the "bite" valve. Instead of biting it, which gives you an anemic flow, try pushing it against your front teeth!

Edit: This thing makes your water taste nasty if it's been lying around in the tube overnight. Really strong, bitter plastic taste, and I have a really high tolerance for nasty-tasting water :((

          Best System.

My wife & I are full time guides and have tries all kinds of hydration systems. Nothing compares to the reliability and flexibility of using this Tube Kit with 1L Platy bottles. We keep our water bottles in the side pockets of our pack, so we don't have to dig to get at them. One bottle has a drinking spout & the other this tube kit. I have used the same bit valve for years with no leaks or issues. Clean up is easy. Get the 90 degree shut off valve and the system is perfect.

            Works great, easy to use!

Bought a couple of the 1L Platypus soft bottles as an alternative to using traditional hydration bladder. Also bought this hydration tube kit that allows you to use these bottles just like a hydration bladder. I like the simplicity and the fact that as bottles they are easy to fill and are collapsible. Stuff them in my pack and use with the hydration tube they are just like my old hydration bladder but better! I'm definitely going to be using this system at the Barkley Marathons later this year representing the Wasatch Speed Goat Mountain Racing Team.

              Does the job

One of the reasons I purchased PlatyBottles was because I wanted to be able to have the ability to remove the hose from the bottles and this works perfectly. I haven't had any issues with leaking (at the screw-cap) or other problems.

                Flawless

If you need a new tube for your Platypus, this is what you need. The best part is the lapel clip so the tube isn't flopping all over the place as you hike or ride. Highly recommend.

The blue bite valve has a clear covering over it. The space in between them is a breeding ground for mold/mildew.And before anyone starts commenting, I've only ever used water with my platypus bottles/tubes, and I usually keep them stored in the fridge when they aren't in use.Great idea, poor execution.

Also, the valve itself requires a bit of "finesse" to it- you can't just chomp down, you have to delicately pinch at just the right amount of pressure.

*laughs* Its really not that difficult to drink...

                      better than the rest

I've used everything from cheap wally world bladders up to camel back and I love the bite valve on this drinking tube! Platypus is the way to go!
