    Simple, effective lighting.

Ultra-light and compact, the Petzl Tikkina Headlamp is a simple lighting solution for everything from dawn patrol hikes to stoking bonfires at camp. It projects 150 lumens at full blast, which provides ample illumination for a wide variety of outdoor activities. Tipping the scales at a measly three ounces, it's barely noticeable when you're hiking, climbing, and navigating after dark.

The wide beam pattern helps you set up camp and fine-tune your gear long after the sun dips below the horizon. Its proximity light setting dims the light, so you're not blinding yourself or adventure companions. Three AAA batteries are included, lasting some 60 hours on the headlamp's highest setting. For greater convenience, it's fully compatible with Petzl's rechargeable Core battery (not included).

    • Simple lighting solution for outdoor adventures
    • Projects 150-lumens at full blast
    • Light settings: low, regular, and high
    • Compatible with rechargeable Core battery (not included)
    • Included AAA batteries last up to 60-hours on full blast

    Simple, Useful, Does the job.

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I love this thing so far. I wish I could wear it around for fun but I suppose that would be socially unacceptable and extremely unnecessary seeing that I live in a city.
Wrangling the packaging opened in my excitement was a little frustrating but once I finally got it opened, I didn't even need the instructions. It came with 3 triple As. And I noticed right away, the PETZL Tikkina is super well made and the colors are really cute. A fun light blue and grey. The light opened up really easily for the batteries, and when I popped the cover back in, voila! Ready for business. I futzed with the head strap a bit because it's adjustable and doesn't open up so you can just fit it right away with a velcro strap or buckle like others have, but once I got it fitted, I turned it on and tested the three settings and the angles.

Let me tell you - the high setting? It is BLINDING. It's like having a single high beam of a car in the middle of your forehead. Pretty great.

I have straight hair that's pretty slick, so I did the head bang test and it passed! The light fits perfectly and comfortably against my forehead without any pressure and without headache. The strap is only an inch thick which I like because it's not overbearing (even for my head which is large. I wear hats that are 7 3/8s) and ultimately doesn't pull on my hair when I'm putting it on or taking it off. Love love love!

It doesn't have a map light or a blinking light setting but for the price (on sale from $19.95) the Tikkina makes me wish I was ALWAYS off the grid in the darkness or on a camping trip in the middle of the woods and I absolutely can't wait to never step on anything sharp during night walks on the beach again.

Worked perfectly for a camping trip and a good value.

      it is perfect

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I like it a lot, it is very useful for the nights, it has good lighting!!

      Smart Choice

Very light and easy to carry. Also excellent light source to read during the night.

        Bought as a backup

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Great basic headlamp, not a lot of features like some of the more expensive options but it works great.

Good for the value, not so durable

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Good first headlamp for the value, but not so durable.
Mine got corroded in the battery contacts in less than 2 years.
        Good battery life.

Corrosion isn't a fault of the headlamp, but from leaving batteries installed. Try using lithium batteries, which reportedly don't leak.

        Great little lamp!

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have this headlamp as a backup. It is a little smaller and more compact which makes it great to just stuff in a side pocket or stash in your glove compartment if car camping. Someone always forgets a headlamp so you can save the day! Great lumens and super comfy to wear!

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This was so comfortable and so bright. I had such a great time using it.

        Great for the price!

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I always keep this in the glove compartment of my car in case I'm heading out on an adventure close to dark. It's plenty bright to use in a pinch, and small/light enough that you'll forget it's in your pack or on your harness. Don't get caught rappelling down with your iPhone light again and get this headlamp!

        Good battery life

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

While the Petzl Tikkina headlamp isn't going to wow anybody, it does get the job done without a lot of fuss. You turn it on, pick high, medium, or low and forget about it. The battery life is great at high power and the band comfortably adjusts to almost any head size. I have not used this with the Petzl Core rechargeable battery, but having the option makes one more good benefit.

        Basic Headlamp

        • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

If you are looking for a good basic headlamp this is the one for you! It has 2 settings, regular and bright. It is perfect for wearing around the campsite, for that long walk to the bathroom at night, or for your hike down the trail after watching the sunset. It is a good reliable headlamp.

Great lamps but keep away from water

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I had these headlamps for at least a year and they work really well. I really like them. However, I dropped it in water and the water steep through the cracks and the headlamp just would not turn off until the battery died... So great headlamp, just surprised how quickly water can get to it. (I have never wore it in rain, and I assume if it did rain while I wore these, they might have met the same fate).

        The Little Headlamp That Could

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

My wife and I each have one of these, and they are surprising bright for such a great price. They have three brightness settings. The dimmest setting is great for around the campfire so you don't make your friends go blind when looking at them. The brightest setting gives plenty of light for all of our camping and exploring needs so far! They are comfortable and easy to adjust!

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

When you want a headlamp you can throw in the pack and know it will work when the sun is setting and your hanging around the campsite, look no further.
This may not be the fanciest, and we have only used it for around the campsite, but its easy and doesn't accidentally turn on in the pack (which is better than some I've used).
Great price for a simply good headlamp.

        Great buy.

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have several of the Tikkinas, one for every bag so I'm never caught in the dark. At 150 lumens they aren't the brightest on the market, but they definitely do the trick and are really easy to use with the two modes. Super simple, and all you need for most situations.

        Works Like a Charm!

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Super comfortable. The lamp is lightweight and the adjustable brightness settings have been useful for multiple situations.

        low cost quality headlamp

for the price this is a great buy!

          and there was light

          • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

          bright, and functional. good choice.

          Nice light

          • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I needed a light for my daughter. Cost, quality, and style were the criteria. This light easily has met all three. We've used it on a dozen overnighters and frequently around the house. It's on its third set of batteries.

The output is more than my kid needs, but for me I prefer more light. If bigfoot is lurking around on the outskirts of camp I want to be able to light him up.
I gave it 5 stars not because it's the best light I have, but because at the price point I don't think there's anything better.

          Best Value

          • Familiarity: I've used it several times

There's a lot of light packed in this little one, and the price can't be beat. Great all around headlamp for every outdoor activity.
