There's really no other alternative out there when a crevasse stands between us and the summit. Petzl's RAD (Rescue and Descent) System is an ultralight, compact, super-simple way to rope up for glacial traverses and rescue situations. The kit includes Petzl's Rad Line which was developed specifically for crevasses, and the compact Micro Traxion, Tibloc, St'Anneau sling, and Sm'D carabiners can come in handy on most mountainous adventures whether we're mountaineering or climbing at the local crag.
