Top of the boat—top of the world.

The sit-on-top Perception Tribe 9.5 Kayak was designed for fun-loving paddlers of all ages who want to explore the waves, cruise winding rivers, or mess around the backyard pond. It has an open cockpit with a padded, foldable, and adjustable seat for back support and paddling power, a keel skid plate for extra durability, and scupper holes that easily drain water if you tip or a wave washes over your bow. Molded tank wells in the bow and stern are outfitted with bungees to secure a cooler, towel, dry clothes, and other gear, while the molded-in cupholder prevents your drink from going overboard in rough seas and keeps your hands free to paddle or ward off pesky rugrats who are playing a game of Moby Dick. Perception included plenty of molded and anchored handles for easy carrying and car topping, and it gave the Tribe a stackable design that makes it easy to store your boots for next summer.

Perception Tribe Kayak

I would love to review the kayak but I have yet to received it. I ordered the kayak on 8/29/18 and have not even been notified as to when the freight company will deliver it. When I first contacted Backcountry I was told that my order was pending but they could not tell me why. Then they told me they would expedite the shipment and as of 9/13/18 it is sitting in a warehouse somewhere other than where I am waiting to be picked up by freight. Even more frustrating is that my husband ordered a kayak from another company and received his in 4 days. I will never, ever order from this company again and I recommend that no one else does. Very poor customer service.

    Unanswered Question

I purchased this Kayak and have used it a couple times. I love the kayak but have noticed that water can get inside the kayak making what you store in the 6" deck plate (Catbag) wet. I am not sure how water would get into this area since it is a solid molded construction. Is it normal for water to get inside of this kayak?

    Great kayak / delivery

I'm a new kayaker who just wants to tool around on a lake here and there. After doing some research I decided this was the kayak for me. I've used it once so far and am thoroughly impressed. Backcountry also has great customer service and delivery. With it being such a large item I was a little concerned but it worked out wonderfully. I also have a designated 'gearhead' that I can call / email anytime I have questions. Great customer service backcountry!!!

You just can't beat this kayak for leisure...very stable and comfortable for 5 or 6 hour float.

Awesome Kayak for leisure paddling, but also tracks very well in rougher waters. I love this Kayak because it short and light enough for me to take solo trips and get on / off my Thule Haul-a-port on my CR-V by myself. Very pleased with this purchase and the price point.
