Shoulder season essential.

Cold winter winds blowing off the coast and sporadic spring showers are no match for the Penfield Women's Kasson Parka. Its water-resistant, windproof fabric defends against unpredictable weather and maintains a casual look whether you're braving the winter weather as you make your way into the office or enjoying a weekend away at your favorite mountain town. A partial wool lining offers subtle core warmth, while an adjustable hood defends against cold wind and the occasional bout of rain.

  • Weather-resistant jacket is ideal for those in-between days
  • Cotton blend protects from light rain and cold wind
  • Fully adjustable hood protects head and neck from weather
  • Adjustable waist cinch provides a tailored look and fit

Snug Fit

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: XL

I own another Penfield jacket in an XL and bought this one in the same size. Unfortunately this fit was much smaller and I needed to return it. It was especially small/tight on my hips. I understand that a lot of active women have small hips, but not all do. It would be nice if sporting clothing companies made active clothing that allowed for curves, especially in larger sizes. If it fit like the Hoosac jacket I own, I would have kept it and love it. It was a really nice jacket and did fit me ok in the shoulders

Wrong Jacket

As other people have mentioned below, the jacket I received is not the one in the product photographs. The jacket I received was the newer Penfield Kasson, which lacks the flannel interior and the wooden hood pulls. The jacket is fine, comfortable, and fits true to size (I am 5'2", 115 lbs, size XS), but I will returning this and looking for the old Kasson design.

    Too small and wrong version

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Small

I contacted customer service twice before ordering this jacket in small black. I wanted to be sure that the photos of the item on the website were correct in what jacket I would be getting. I wanted the one with the penfield patch on the front and the colored interior. I was reassured both times that photos were up to date and that I would be receiving the exact jacket in the photos. What I got was a newer (plainer) version of the jacket. I was SO disappointed. And I own a penfield winter parka in small that I bought a few years ago and in this jacket in the small the sleeves were too short and it felt tight in my shoulders. Returning and really really wishing that Penfield still put their awesome patch on the front.

    Backcountry is the best!

This jacket is perfect for PNW weather and runs true to size. I had to return my original jacket due to a sizing issue (the wrong size was sent); however, my customer service rep, John, was amazing and completely on top of it - probably the best CSR I've ever worked with. I'm really happy with my jacket and with my experience. Thank you!!

Thanks Alana! 3rd times a charm glad we finally got you all taken care of!

      High quality, but wrong jacket

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Medium

I was so excited to find this jacket in black and in the size I needed (medium) and in last year's style (preferred the placement and style of the logo and the brown hood adjusters). I ordered the last medium and the jacket arrived today (ordered on Sunday, arrived on Wednesday). I was so disappointed when I opened the box because not only was it the wrong jacket (correct style but this year's version) and a size small... However, the style is growing on me and I think I like it enough not to return it and try and find the older version of this style I loved somewhere else resale. Luckily the small fits just enough but the hip area is a bit tight (I have a feeling the medium might be too big so I'm not willing to chance it returning this one and trying to order a medium somewhere else - apparently backcountry is all out of mediums). Overall, even though I was disappointed that the jacket wasn't as pictured, it is very well made and seems like it will be a great replacement for my sad old North Face rain shell.

In the picture for "Lichen" the jacket looks tan, but on other websites it looks green? Is it possible that that is the tan version? That's the one I'm looking for.

Unfortunately it looks like the images for "Lichen" and "Navy" were uploaded incorrectly. Lichen is more of a green color. I uploaded a few pictures from Penfield and we will work on getting the main images corrected!

What temperature will this keep you warm up to? Is it more winter or fall?

Jackets don't get temp ratings the same way sleeping bags do. But this is a great piece that I think you could rock the better part of winter in depending on where you are and how much you're outside.
