Don't Sail Away.

One of our first criteria for choosing a cycling jacket is protection from the elements. If it's one of those days when we have to wear the jacket from start to finish, fit is critical and it is imperative that it doesn't feel like a sail. The Pearl Izumi Men's PRO Pursuit Aero Wind Jacket fits the bill nicely and can be used with a base layer or jersey when the rain is falling but the temperature hasn't followed suit, or it can be paired with a thermal base layer for protection against the wind, rain, and cold.

The jacket is made from Pearl's Softshell Lite fabric on the front and sleeves which provides breathable wind and water protection without forgoing mobility. On the back, an open mesh panel provides breathability. Our favorite element of this jacket is the fit. Pearl uses an offset hem and sleeves to create a form-fitting silhouette on the bike. The result is flap-free performance and maximum protection. The jacket's construction is rounded off with a full-length zipper for venting if the pace rises and top storm flap adding extra protection from the wind and rain. Reflective detailing throughout helps keep you visible from all angles in low-light conditions.

  • Jacket shields you from wind and rain on unpredictable days
  • Slim, form-fit still accommodates layers underneath
  • Lightweight fabric wicks moisture as you ride
  • Stretch panels allow the jacket to follow your body movements

A little disappointed!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: XXL

I was looking for a light jacket for those in between days but with the lack of venting it feels like a suit of saran wrap and I'm trying to drop a pound before a wrestling match. Great looking and we'll made, but no pockets!

Not really a jacket

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

This is really a rain cape, not a proper jacket because it does not have any pockets in the rear (or front).
