Pearl Izumi P.R.O. Aero Glove - Men's
Pearl IzumiP.R.O. Aero Glove - Men's

Race-worthy palm protection.

You wouldn't think of racing without the added grip and protection of gloves, but you also can't just throw on any old pair of gloves you have lying around when you're a Cat 3 or above. When you're looking for uncompromised dexterity, reliable grip, and as much aerodynamic benefit as Pearl Izumi offers, the P.R.O. Aero Gloves are what you'll want covering your palms.

The half-finger design gives you full range of motion, while a soft Clarino synthetic leather palm helps prevent user errors caused by poor purchase on the handlebars during tense race moments. Pearl constructs the back of the gloves with its P.R.O. Aero fabric, a stretchy synthetic blend with texturing to reduce drag and plenty of moisture-wicking capabilities to keep your hands dry for a better hand/hood interface. If you need to wipe your nose, brow, sunglasses, or head unit off mid-race (and you will), Pearl includes a thin wiping surface on the thumb of the glove, and the pull-on styling avoids the extra bulk of a hook-and-loop strap.

Ok gloves

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Xl

Bought these on sale for a good price during the winter. Got to use them today for the first time. They fit well and feel good. Quality seems good, similar to other PI gloves. I like them for the hourish training ride I did but the padding is too sparse for longer endurance rides. They do seem minimal so possibly aero as advertised. If you want fast and minimal paddong these are for you. If you don’t go out for under three hours maybe look elsewhere.

Good glove

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is currently my prefered glove. These fit me well, are comfortable, and effective in rain and shine. They have no padding which I like. Fabric on the back of the hand is light weight. Durability seems ok, but maybe not as good as some other gloves I have.

Comfortable, light, and washable

This is a fantastic glove. It's lightweight but has held up well to a season's use. The palm is sturdy but unpadded, giving a secure and comfortable grip on the bars and great feel and control. Best of all, there are no seams or oddly placed gel cushions to irritate you.

I haven't (yet) crashed while wearing the glove, so I can't comment on protection, but the palm is sturdy enough that it should be at least some help.

The glove handles machine washing well. I toss it in with the remainer of my kit as there's no Velcro to grip and rip other pieces of clothing.

Overall I couldn't be happier with this glove. I plan to buy another couple of pairs for the upcoming year.

Really nice

Great gloves. No padding in the palm, so if that is what you want or need, choose another pair.

The best Summer gloves for...

  • Fit: True to size

...serious riders. These are awesome.

Best features:
1. No pads!!!
Many experienced cyclists prefer gloves without pads because they provide better bar feel, grip, and control. Also, no pads = more comfort because there are no pressure points caused by the pads. You don't need pads in your gloves if you have cork/gel tape on your bars.

2. No velcro!!!
So they don't snag your expensive jersey. And you can throw them in the wash with your other kit after your ride. So convenient.

Also:
3. Properly shaped sweat wipe.
4. Very high QC standards. These won't split apart on you after three rides.

Gloves may be the best thing that Pearl Izumi makes.

Sizing: Pearl Izumi gloves usually fit true to size. For example (for me): Pearl Izumi = L. Spesh = L. Giro = XL. Castelli = XL.
