They do not have a Race 3D chamois
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
This is the new Pearl Izumi chamois that is flat without any contours. A 3-d chamois is pre-shaped instead of flat. The shaped chamois makes a huge difference for comfort.

The only bike short I'll wear now!

I've always had a tough time finding the right type of shorts that wouldn't be too tight around my thigh but would properly fit me in the waist. These do the trick and are SO comfortable! They stay in place but don't create the dreaded thigh bulge. Dare I say they are flattering?! I have been on weekly 50-milers and these do the trick.

Very pleased!

I?m a newer rider and my cyclist friend highly recommended these. She was spot on! I got another pair after purchasing one just to be sure? fit TTS for what I expected (cycling apparel tends to run smaller, but it makes sense). I?m 5?7?, anywhere from 138-144 hip measures 38-39? and got a M. I?ve been on two lengthier (for me) rides (about 20 mi each) and these worked for me, especially when terrain got a bit bumpy. Very happy with these shorts!

Classic. Basic. Sizing a little off.

I had a pair of Pearl Izumi bibs that had gotten too large for me so I sized down one size for these shorts. I bought a medium. I typically wear a small in other brands like Patagonia, so I thought this should be fine. When I first put them on, I thought they were too small and almost sent them back. Gave them a little time - went on a ride, kept them on while they dried, and they feel better now. While I do think they fit small compared to other brands, they seem fine now. I guess you just need to figure out what size you are for PI; it will likely be one size larger than other brands. The chamois pad is fine - just basic, and I don't have any issues with it. Waistband is wide and comfortable, but I do wish the rise on these was about an inch taller; it rolls on me on the bike, and I'm assuming would also do so on anyone who doesn't have chiseled six-pack abs. I have these in a navy blue color, which shows sweat in a gross way, but I will say that the fabric dries really quickly. PI has always made great bike gear and they're my go-to as a longtime cyclist. I wish their sizing was a little more consistent across lines. But overall, the fabric seems sturdy. I hope they'll last for many miles.
