Mammoth comfort.

Thousands of years ago the woolly mammoth roamed the frozen tundras of the Northern Hemisphere, keeping itself warm with layers of thick fur. Today, the Woolyester Fleece Pullover roams city sidewalks and mountain trails everywhere, keeping you warm with a comfortable blend of wool and polyester. New from Patagonia, the Woolyester combines the best of two fabrics to give you a soft-wearing midlayer for fall and winter. In addition to the cozy fabric, a stand-up collar works to keep your neck warm from howling winter winds, while ribbed cuffs around the sleeves and waist ensure that heat stays in and cold stays out.

  • Stay warm on chilly days with this soft-wearing pullover
  • Wool and polyester blend keep you warm and cozy when temps drop
  • Stand up collar warms your neck then folds down for versatile style
  • Cuffs at sleeves and waist ensure that cold winds don't sneak in

Love It, but Sleeves are Short

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Small

I love how soft and warm this pullover is. I initially got the XS because that’s my size in Patagonia’s outerwear jackets, but the XS was way too short in the sleeves with this style. I liked how the torso fit in the XS, but the short sleeves were too annoying. I traded out for the small—the sleeves fit alright so I kept it, but I could’ve gone for a M (I don’t mind the torso not fitting/fitting bigger).

To short

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Small

I am a petite gal and this was a little short for my liking. I read the reviews of people with the same complaint and thought I would be fine due to my stature but it was to short for me as well. If it was just about an inch and a half longer it would be perfect.

Fit is a little off

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small

Sweater is super cute, but the material is not very comfortable and the elastic band at the bottom sits too high up, giving it a boxy feel. Overall it is a good pull-over, but probably not my favorite.

Really Great, Semi-Scratchy, Recycled

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I love this sweater and the customer service I got from Backcountry was fantastic. The sweater is definitely a little scratchy, but when I layer a light t-shirt under I don't notice at all. I love even more that it's made of a recycled wool/polyester/nylon fabric blend and a great choice for buying new. I purchased a medium and it's nice and loose in the body, a good torso length, but pretty short in the arms (the cuffs fell slightly short of my wrists, and I think my arms are normal length?). While I would probably like the way the small fits around my torso, I fear sizing down would shorten the arms even further. I've gotten a lot of compliments, I can dress it up or down, and I plan on wearing this and this alone all winter.

Update: after a wash and many wears this is much softer!

cute and vintage

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size

feedback from gift recipient. This pullover reminds me of old fashioned Patagonia products from the '80s. I like the boxy fit and oatmeal color.

Not as comfy as it looks

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: XS

I really wanted to like this pullover, but it is pretty itchy and not flattering overall. The body is quite loose and the torso is relatively short. I will be returning.
