Unwavering attention to detail.

Staying focused on committing lines is tough when you're wet and cold, so a jacket like the Patagonia Men's Untracked Jacket is necessary to help keep your wits about you. Constructed with a durable Gore-Tex shell, fully taped seams, and watertight zippers, this jacket keeps you dry during nasty winter storms without causing sweat to build up and leave you shivering. The DWR finish causes moisture to bead and run off the shell's surface for an extra layer of protection against the wet and cold. A brushed polyester lining provides warmth and slides over midlayers and baselayers with ease. Towards the hem, the lining is especially slick to stop snow from building up.

The Untracked Jacket is built with unwavering attention to descent-oriented details. Underarm venting boosts airflow for those ridgeline hikes when the best lines aren't accessible from the lift. A new adjustable powder skirt cinches for a tight seal or lies flat when not in use. The helmet-compatible hood features a laminated visor for optimal visibility in poor conditions. A Cohaesive cord-lock system embeds cord locks in the hood and hem for quick and easy adjustment. Patagonia updated this season's jacket with a more tailored silhouette for comfort and protection without bulk.

  • A ski or snowboard jacket ideal for untracked descents
  • Gore-Tex shell with fully tapes seams is waterproof and breathable
  • Brushed tricot backer adds warmth on cold storm days
  • Helmet-compatible hood with laminated visor optimizes visibility
  • Underarm ventilation for temperature control
  • Powder skirt can be cinched tight or adjusted to lie flat
  • Regular fit with a more tailored silhouette leaves room for layers
  • Patagonia builds reliable mountain goods for any vertical endeavor

Uncompromising Quality

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Mediun

Patagonia turns out a reliable and uncompromisingly good product. The fit is as described, and the jacket is flexible and comfortable. I just returned from Steamboat, and I was quite happy with my purchase. Cons include a little tight when donning my Salomon helmet and attempting to zip all the way up. I wish there was better flexibility in the hood. The powder skirt is difficult to attatch to the corresponding pants, but that’s a pants problem. I also wish there was a better solution for the pockets to accommodate phones (cameras), but that’s just “fall of Rome” kind of decadence.

Patagonia untracked jacket

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Excellent size, bit bigger than "normal, ' roomier all round, makes layering a cinch.
the lining insdie the gore outter is a massive godsend for the wind. proved a few trimes this is a btter all rounder than the arxreyx for days when its quite nasty, wont go so far to say its warm, but it is less chilly than gore alone.
pockets are good , plenty of room, nice high collar and its not too thin u cant do up ur helmet strap over a balaclava..., PLNETY of culrpits out there on that point!!
Nice long jacket too, powder skirt doenst ride up really I cant find a sinlge detractor for this, if there was just one.............. this wud most prob be it.
I have the purlple version Alex Yorder rides in.
lots of thumps up.

great jacket!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

It's sad to admit how many jackets I tried, bought, and returned before finally settling on this one. Just some context: I've been an Arcteryx guy for a long time; this time, I was looking for a resort jacket, not a backcountry-specific jacket.

I tried the Arcteryx Rush, Stio Environ, Flylow Lab Coat, Patagonia Powslayer, and Powder Bowl. Ultimately I chose the Untracked because: a) the fit was good for me -- not too baggy, still easy to layer underneath; b) Gore-tex, excellent weather protection with things like a smartly designed hood and good lower face protection; c) fabric was more "move with you" and flexible than other alternatives, relatively lightweight; and d) while expensive (was able to get some discount), it seemed comparable to other jackets with more of the features I was looking for.

Overall very happy with the fit and performance of this jacket, and knowing that Patagonia stands behind their product NQA makes me confident this was a great choice!

Great!

Great coat. light, durable, lots of pockets. Excellent for layering. Perfect size and isn't to tight around the shoulders. I wish they had a few more colors but would highly recommend it

    This shell is the TRUTH

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large

I was hesitant to by this shell without seeing it in person. When it arrived I was not disappointed though. From what I can tell this thing is 💣 bomb proof. The attention to detail is outstanding too. All the pockets, and drawstrings are strategically placed and well thought-out. Plenty of room for layers and it really looks good. I couldn't be happier.

    Awesome Jacket!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: Medium

I got this jacket to wear for resort riding and backcountry touring and love it so far! I've only had it for a couple weeks so far but in that time I'm ridden some of the deepest pow of my life and stayed dry day after day. It breathes really well and the pit vents allow great ventilation when touring or hiking, it's also super light and packs down small so you can easily stow it in your pack if it's too warm to wear.

Another thing I love about this jacket is the fit. While many other gore-tex shells out there that have a tight climbing/euro style fit, this jacket has a looser fit for skiing/snowboarding. It has a slightly longer cut to it which is great for keeping snow out and keeping you dry sitting on the chairlift or on the snow.

Bottom line. If you're looking for hardshell protection for ripping the resort or touring get this jacket.

    Awesome Jacket!

    Just what I needed

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

This jacket treated me really well through last ski season. I used it primarily for touring and it worked exceptionally well because it is relatively lightweight and has nice vents. It offered a great balance of not being too warm on my way up and not being too cold on my way down. Definitely planning to get lots of use out of this jacket for years to come.

    Bad velcro at the wrist.

Sent last years back because it fell apart at the cuffs in one season or more like half way through. Bought a new one thinking they would have repaired it and I can see its already unraveling. Very disappointed. Everything else about it is great.

      Hi Collin,
Ha the new jacket started unraveling before you've had a chance to ski in it? Be sure to keep in touch with Backcountry to issue a replacement jacket, or Patagonia will work with you to repair or replace it also under the ironclad guarantee.
