Great Vest, bigger than expected

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: L

It is a large vest, very compressible, fits into a medium sized backpack pocket. Very warm and the neck is very comfortable (not so high and easily folded). The only counter is that it is a little big for what I expected. I´m 1.86 m and 83 kg (tall and thin, almost normal, ha). for me, it fits large, the vest should go "slim fit" and in my case it's not like that. I changed a patagonia "M" vest from another model that that was too small for me, for this patagonia "L", but ultralight. It seems that it has different measurement parameters.

So Blue

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Another blue only Patagonia could get away with. This vest is smurf blue but the geese lived lives we could only dream about. I take it everywhere because it packs down to nothing and it's really warm and soft. I ripped it on a branch and it's leaking the world's most expensive down all over everything. That happens to all the down vests I have ever owned. But none of them were ever this blue. It's so blue. I can't even believe how blue it is. Everyone should have one of these.

Just right when jacket is too much

I have this and the sweater and love both. This one is perfect when it is cold but not freezing. I am sure it would be awesome for high energy activities in much colder weather. It is very comfortable and looks great.

Amazing vest!

This vest is great. It is extremely warm, extremely light, and packs down to nothing. It fits true to size and is water repellant. My only gripes are that it comes with a stuff sack as opposed to stuffing into itself, and there is no outter chest pocket. Overall though it is great piece of outdoor clothing that works well for brisk commutes to work or as a layering piece in extreme temps. I have also experienced Patagonia's lifetime Iron Clad warranty on two separate occasions and received new items with no questions asked as to what happened or needing a receipt. I highly recommend this vest to anyone looking for a great down vest that is so light you forget you are even wearing one.

Warm / Light

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

Just picked this down vest up. It's super warm, super light, and packs down tight. I get a little worried about the durability of Down jackets/vests, but I'll check back in a few months with a report of how it's held up. I think this'll make for a great modular insulating layer.

Lightest, warmest

If you're looking for the most minimal, and warmest down vest out there, look no further. This Patagonia Ultralight vest has kept me warm always. The down is so packed into the nylon it's practically like wearing a pillowed sheet for a vest. The nylon is so thin you can actually see the down inside. And it comes with a stash bag you can fold the vest into in the event you want to put it in your bag. It's extremely lightweight and totally worth it's weight in warmth.

Oh, and be warned about the Paintbrush Red - It's definitely super duper orange, and not red at all. Not really an issue for me, but might be for other people looking for something red.
